I received the interview notification mail today and it contained an insert saying " Notice to applicant: if you have ever been arrested or detained....you must bring the following to your interview". Is this standard?

Hello everyone!!!

I'm back!

Well... I can say this was a very interesting experience...

I got at the office about 30 minutes before my interview. Went trough security... and NO MOBILE PHONES WITH CAMERAS are allowed, so please check that before you go into the building.

We went to the second floor, all quiet... and put my appointment letter at the checking window which was closed and the curtains were down (Seemed like anyone was there!). We sat down... and really my hubby and me were smiling and stuff (my hands were very cold tough!). Then a woman came out... and said my name loud... We stood up and I LOOKED at her and said Hello and she said hello and smiled and asked us how we were? we said fine! and u!

She walked us to her office( there were like 8 other offices with another officers inside). She told us to remain standing and we did the oat LOOKING INTO HER EYES! We sat down... she asked for our ids and my passport, so i gave my state id and passport and she took my I94. Then she said: I will ask you some questions... so she asked questions from the FORMS we already submited, she asked my husband about what are my parents names, where do they live, where am i from, what is my complete name, and i had to give the same answers too... asked me if i ever met his parents, very simple and easy question.

She asked about how was my wedding, who went to my wedding, how many people, where was it... she was pretty happy that my family came to the wedding

Then she asked me if i had PICTURES AND DOCUMENTS TO SHOW: I gave her 2 albums: SHE SAW EACH PICTURE and because she seemed pretty nice i described her some of them Then i gave her some utility bills, banks account with our names. I was gonna handle more stuff to her but she said this is enough heheh ...

She asked me: what are ur plans now? i said of course i want all my papers to be all set and done so i can make my life with my hubby , find a job, make a business cause thats what i had in my home country, and she asked my hubby: u gonna help her right? and he said of course! and we laughed.

Then she said this is all... and ull have an answer between 2-3 weeks... and i asked her: can i check online too??? and she said of course during the next 48 hours....

So .. really.... it was a very easy experience.... FOR SURE she already study very well our case and saw that our marriage was genuine, she had a big thick file of our case. Also she gave me back my birth certificate that was an original with the translation (i found that quite nice of her), she said i made a copy so i can give it back to you....

Oh well!!! 30 min ago... i just check online and MY I 485 WENT TO CARD PRODUCTION!!! SO THAT MEANS IM APPROVED RIGHT????? BUT THE I 130 IS STILL IN INITIAL REVIEW... IS THAT NORMAL???

Just an advice: bring pictures (this office loved to see each one of my pics and i had like 300 pictures which she saw all.) and told us : you both have done a lot together!

And... with this i can tell you that not all interviews during afternoon hours mean that will be hard... mine was pretty easy.

I am hoping this will help atleast someone. I am US citizen and i was the one sponsoring my husband. Here's our Timeline. We were lucky to have this process finished real fast. So there is hope there

3/17/2012: Overnighted 1-130 and I-485

3/19/2013: Packaged Delivered

3/21/2012: Received Receipt #s

3/22/2012: Checks Cashed:

3/26/2012: Received Confirmation in the mall - I-797s

3/31/2012: Received Letter for Biometric Appt For 4/23

4/23/2012: His Biometric Appt

5/02/2012: Checked website for Status- Interview Date Determined: June 6th 2012 (letter came next day)

6/06/2012: Had our interview in Newark NJ, early morning. At the end said everything looked good but had to do one last check.Then at the end of the we checked status online at 6 pm and we were APPROVED

6/14/2012: Got GREEN CARD in the mail!

Our Interview was at the Newark Office. She looked a little strict but was nice.

- She asked us for our papers first and then then wanted to see pictures.

-We showed her our engagement album ( i had a big engagement party ). She asked him he if recognized certain ppl in this party (TEST).

- WE had a court wedding so we only had a few pictures. She did ask why we had a court wedding and not a big wedding.

- She looked at our papers a little ( we have only been married for a while, like 6 months so we didn't have much to show her and since we lived with my parents all we had was insurance, car insurance and bank statement.)

-Try to take copies of your certificates - birth, marriage and others ( like if you have a naturalization certificate). She will keep the copies. Its easier if you take copies (faster)

-Make sure to take everything you have.

-She only asked my husband basic questions- my name, date of birth, my parents name, home address.

- She asked me how we met , our first date and where we went. Asked me about his date of birth, his full name and his parents name.

Overall we were lucky in the entire process. So hope this will help someone and give hope that fast and smooth processing is possible. Good Luck

OK. I don't know if I was just wasn't aware of it before or what.. On my notice letter I received in mail it says I have my interview in the New York local office. I checked the case status this morning in USCIS website. It says NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER. Any one has any insight on this ?

Your interview will be in NY. Everybody's status update online says NBC, it is only in the hard copy mail that they will tell you to go to your local USCIS office. Congratulations on the interview appointment!

OK. I don't know if I was just wasn't aware of it before or what.. On my notice letter I received in mail it says I have my interview in the New York local office. I checked the case status this morning in USCIS website. It says NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER. Any one has any insight on this ?

Online it says national benefits center but they really mean your local office hence the reason that you recieved it for NYC office! No worries!
