Looks like the USCIS is working overtime tonight, just received the GC mailed & the USPS has picked up your GC emails.

My GC is finally on its way, hopefully it will arrive in 2-3 days like my EAD! So fingers crossed it will be here Friday or Saturday and then I can make another trip to the SSA and then finally get my DL next week!

I have had an e-mail notice after 8 p.m. Sometimes it happens I guesswhistling.gif

They do definitely seem to work late hours, some email notifications I got came at around 8.30 pm EST, so no surprises yours came in when they did.

Congratulations, your card should be there within a day or two. Savor the moment when it is actually in your hands! :star:

Thanks, I will certainly savor the moment.

It is a great feeling to finally be legal again and to know that my future dealings with the USCIS (ROC & Naturalization) will be much less daunting and relatively straight-forward.

I can now finally get on with my life as normal-- back to school in the fall and in-state tuition next year!

I have had an e-mail notice after 8 p.m. Sometimes it happens I guesswhistling.gif

Thanks Nene!

And then there were 10 remaining, two of which have yet to receive interview dates; although I am pretty sure that Minae is adjusting from K1 and thus may not even get an interview since her case will likely get processed at the CSC.

Strycek, I hope you hear something soon. I also hope that wouldn't affect your travel plans.

The only time that interviews are waived for AOS applicants is if they are adjusting from a K1 visa and that is because an interview would have become conducted only months prior at the US Embassy when they obtained their visa.

All other applicants seeking to adjust status will have an interview at their local USCIS and thus their case will be transferred there before the interview and adjudicated there after the interview.

So yes, you will have an interview and yes, your case will be transferred to your local field office and not the CSC-- you will not be noted of the transfer either.

I do however hope you hear something soon, is your local Office in Chicago?

Did your J1 have the 2-year home-residency requirement?

Since you filed at the back end of February and you have yet to even get an RFE, my best guess is that your local USCIS Field Office has a backlogged waiting list for interviews.

In fact, after a little research I see that the Chicago Field Office is currently processing I-485's from November 29th which means there is around a 7-8 month wait and so it may be another 3-4 months of waiting before you get an interview date.

No she wasn't subject to the 2 year home residency requirement. Yeah I noticed that about the processing times for Chicago, but I wonder how reliable those are. New York's processing times were comparable to Chicago's, but there are some people on this forum in New York who have just received interview dates. I really don't mind waiting longer, since my wife has her EAD/AP and we are traveling next month. I'm just hoping we're on the right track, and there isn't anything else we need to be doing.

I have no idea how reliable any information that you receive from any government agency is, weather it be Federal or State

FWIW, my local USCIS Field Office has a 4 month processing time and I will receive my GC in the mail hopefully tomorrow which will put me at day 118, two days short of that 4 month period, however I had a 17 day delay while responding to the RFE. So in my experience, I would say that it is pretty accurate however from my basic research it seems that most people without any RFE's are being processed about a month ahead of those dates/times posted.

With that said, I noticed that those in NYC got their interview notices about month before their schedule interview date

I am very sure that you guys are on the right track because if you wasn't, you would have heard something from the USCIS that some action on your part is required but since that hasn't happened, all you can do is wait :)

Well originally I forgot the check for the biometric fee, but I sent it back in a hurry, and received a receipt. The status on the I-485 was never updated after that, but I think they may have just transferred it to the local Chicago office right away. After calling USCIS, I had the impression that the local offices really don't update the status at all. I imagine forgetting the biometric fee right at the very beginning slowed the process down a little, but it couldn't have slowed it that much. I guess we will just keep waiting patiently, and when we're outside the Chicago office's processing window we will either call back or make an Infopass.

I know what you mean about the reliability of information from a Government agency. This whole time I have been imagining the different scenarios in which some government worker could have lost our application haha.

The status updates online are never updated except for the following: acceptance, card in production, card mailed, card picked up, card delivered, approval/denial, interview, RFE & RFE response.

If none of the above is happening, then there will be no online updates-- which always cracks me up when I think about, in no other circumstances would people sign up for "updates" when for months nothing ever "updates" and when it does update, you receive something in the mail anyway! Take a look at the I-130, that only ever receives two updates, acceptance & approved/denial which basically means that from the day they receive the I-130 until after your interview, it never "updates"--
