if you dont mind me asking. how long have you been married? i am just trying to understand how they decide on who gets the 2 year and who gets the 10 year. i have been married 4 years and some months. do you think i qualify for the 10 year card?

I have been married for six years. If you have been married for more than two years, you get the 10-year unconditional GC. So, yes, you do absolutely qualify for the 10-year one. For a marriage less than two years, you get the 2-year conditional one, and have to file to remove conditions two years after you get the GC (the window opens three months prior to the two-year mark). Hope this helps?

My country does not allow dual citizenship but has something called Overseas Citizenship which lets you live and work there, but then takes away your voting rights. I am kind of torn, because I would not want to live in a country if I cannot participate in its democratic process, so giving up voting rights for my home country is not something I am ready to do as yet. So, yes, naturalization is something I am thinking about but have three years (minus three months) to come to a clear-eyed decision. Hoping I will catch up with all you guys once again there, when the window opens.

Thank you for sharing your opinion with usbiggrin.gif

I also do not have a clear mind about being a citizen yet since I cannot have dual citizenship.

I kinda wanna leave a wider option for our future.
