Guys I have a question regarding the interview. What things should I bring as evidence that my marriage is true? I've already sent them joint bank account letter, a car tittle under both our names, no insurance yet because we were going to get it as soon as I got my GC, since I can't drive anyway. And our tax returns, and 1 utillity bill. Do you guys think that it would be helpful to bring letters that were only sent to me since they have the address as proof? And his too?

Have you got your interview letter? on it, it gives a list of what they want to see, the longer you have been married the more they'd expect you to have. Don't forget your pictures.

July 2005 - met my awesome, hot, amazing love in Lousiana.
July 2006 - Married said love and moved to Canada.
June 2011 - Entered US to visit family, decided to stay.
Feb. 2012 - Sent paperwork to Chicago.

You guys will be getting a 10yr GC. It's not the being married so much as the burden of proof of your marriage. They give you a list of things they want. After 6yrs, it would be expected that you would accumulate certain things... medical insurance, life insurance, car title, pictures from birthdays, christmas, anniversary etc., possibly children (depending on your situation) they'd want to see six years worth of marriage.

They might ask less questions, just depends who you get and what mood they are in at the time. It varies from county to county, state to state... there's no rhyme or reason. Best thing to do is give them what they ask for!

You guys will be getting a 10yr GC. It's not the being married so much as the burden of proof of your marriage. They give you a list of things they want. My thinking though, and the reason I asked the question, is that marriage fraud is more consistent with newlyweds...generally people don't claim to be married for 5-10 years for marriage fraud so they wouldn't necessarily require more evidence in my rationale...

I'm sure from the list on the interview letter you have plenty lying around that you can use. Your tax returns, joint credit cards or bank accounts. I don't think they want EVERYTHING on the list, just a good selection. Even things like your doctors... if I'm not mistaken in Canada you medical cards and bits about family. You could use that... it doesn't have to be US based, just marriage based.

Your reasoning makes plenty of sense... but I think they have a checklist, so as long as what's on file meets the criteria on the checklist they are happy. They're not particularly interested in us as people. We're applicants, they treat us the same, if they see a red flag, they investigate further regardless of how long folk have been married. I don't think a lot of heart or gut work goes into it until you are sitting in front of them and become 'REAL'. Fortunately, that's where the fraud often gets picked up. So you'll probably be fine.

We have been married for six years too and don't have some of the stuff that people list here, like a joint bank account or a car title. We do have common medical insurance, landlord's certificate, common credit cards and plenty of photographs. I don't anticipate too much trouble in that area, still I would go ahead and try to get as much as I can. It doesn't hurt to be over-prepared!
