Yup EAD is just a temporary permit to work while waiting for the GC, but it could help a lot and will put me into a more productive state if I have one as soon as possible. Here in Michigan, you can file for SSN with just your I-94 and passport and you can even change it into your married name after the wedding just as long as your I-94 is still valid within 2 weeks prior to its expiration. Too bad, I came back late to change it to my married name. And with that being said, if you wanna get a state ID (in your married name) they have to verify first through your social security with its exact name. With just an EAD, I can go along and have my name change in my SSN, get a state ID and take an exam for a drivers permit. My interview is gonna be on the 22nd of May - guess I just have to wait to get my GC and forget about the EAD. :blink:

Oh that's too bad. Worked for us in California but only because we took marriage certificate.

California is a different animal than the rest of the country. ;)

July 2005 - met my awesome, hot, amazing love in Lousiana.
July 2006 - Married said love and moved to Canada.

It truly depends on the state and at times some local DMV don't want to waive where they can. If your legal entry as expired it won't be acceptable. The other option is for them to log-into the shared database with USCIS where they will confirm if your status is truly showing that it's pending but if this database is not updated they won't do anything to process your DL. They will then ask for physical evidence which is EAD or GC.

yeah, it's cool, I'll live... I'll just sit back and chill... only 3 more weeks...

Thanks seems like everyone who mailed their package by first week of march is getting their EAD approval..now what I'm interested is seeing whether my EAD will be in my married name or my maiden name. Since I had the issue with my biometrics and had to get my last name changed on all my papers back to my maiden name I'm assuming it'll be that.. (either way doesn't matter ) btw does ur status online get changed once they receive ur biometrics?

Hi all,

I haven't posted here as a March filer as I forgot about these such posts but I am here now, better late than never right. Congrats to all of those that I see are getting their EAD approvals and advanced paroles =).

I got a text today from USCIS stating my EAD had been requested for production and that my advanced parole was approved April 26, 2012. Does anyone know how the advances parole thing works? Is it also a card that is send or just an approval letter? What do you use to travel out of the US and back?

Nothing updates once the Bio is done. You just receive your NOA1 and Bio letter and then the next update is either an RFE or the EAD/AP in production notice.

I didn't file for AP since I am out-of-status but on the bottom of my EAD card is states "Not valid for Re-Entry to the U.S." so I am just assuming that the new joint EAD/AP cards would have the opposite wording on them and thus you could just use the same card to act as both employment authorization and as a re-entry permit.

Day 65: 05/10/12 EAD IN HAND!!!

Day 69: 05/14/12 Applied for SSN

Day 74: 05/19/12 SS Card IN HAND!!

Day 91: 06/05/12 Interview @ 8:30am: APPROVED ON THE SPOT!!

Day 91: 06/05/12 around 6 pm received text that updated aproved status on USCIS website

*Some Day between 06/07/12-06/11/12 We received two notices that we were aproved

one for hubby and one for me..do no know exact date because we were out of town*

Day 96: 06/11/12 text received USCIS mailed GC

Day 96: 06/11/12 another text received USPS picked up GC

Day 99: 06/14/12 GC in hand!!!!!!!!!!!
