I just received another email notification from USCIS regarding production of the card, however it appears identical to the first one that I received on the 20th, except that it now has today's date (25th), it just says that "They have order production of my new card"

Anybody else receive a 2nd card in production notice but with difference dates? I would like to assume that this means it has been shipped, but there is no wording to that affect in the 2nd email and no update to my online case.

I'm afraid not, You'll may still get a 'we mailed the new card' and another 'The USPS reported that they picked up' notifications. Thereafter you'll get it in a day or two.

That happened to me as well. I must have received like 5 "notifications" about the EAD. The most important is the one about USPS "picking up" your EAD for delivery. Yes...they notify you about that. Got mine today btw. ;) Cheers...and thanks for the congrats on my interview. Got the job too on the same day I received the EAD. :) :)

Got a state ID today. Obviously. I was apprehensive about it since I'm in OK and they tend to be quite draconian on this stuff. This was one of the first states to crack down on IDs for immigrants. Anyway, they accepted my EAD and SS card. I happen to be one of the lucky people (=nonimmigrant students) who got one before the post 9-11 crackdown. So, yes, the NOA/I-797C notices were pretty much useless. I am assuming you can get a social security card with an EAD?

Oh...and over here you just can not go to any tag agency and get an ID. They send you first to a driver examiner site (dps) who inspect your documents, take your photo and give you a letter (valid only for one month from its issuance) that gives the tag agency a green light to get your state ID/DL. You also only get the ID/DL for the duration of "authorized stay." So...since I used my EAD, the state ID expires the same day the EAD expires.

Yes, you can get a SSN with an EAD card, I did. I also got a State ID earlier. And yes, since I am on a OPT EAD, my State ID expires at the same time as my OPT EAD. Am waiting for my AOS EAD now, so need to get my State ID renewed after that, hopefully.

Except your current ID expires real soon. I'll say wait for GC and renew (or is it extend the validity)of your state ID with that.

Your EAD (valid ID for 1 year) can only get you a valid ID for 1 year too but no such restrictions with GC
