A lot of you are mentioning going to the USCIS website to find your updates. Are you not signed up for email/text notifications?

12/24/2010 I proposed. She accepted and stayed.

02/25/2011 Married!

03/19/2012 FINALLY submitted the AOS paperwork: I-130, I-485, I-765, etc.

03/23/2012 Received notification that USCIS has received everything.

03/26/2012 Biometrics Appointment Notice: April 23, 2012.

04/02/2012 NOA's received. Now we wait...

04/23/2012 Biometrics completed.

05/18/2012 EAD card mailed but not yet received.

06/06/2012 Rough interview but we think we're approved! Website says i485 status "Card Production".

06/12/2012 We received the "Welcome the United States" letters! Website says Green Card was mailed.

LIMBO: Green card lost in mail. Facing the possibility of paying hundreds in fees and basically repeating the entire process.

All good now! USPS lost it, then found it.

Update so I went n go my biometrics done but since my paperwork is in my married name I bought my passport and marriage liscense stupid me brought a copy which they wouldn't accept so they said I can either reschedule ( we live 4hr away in a diff state) or get my biometrics done in y maiden name. I chose to do my maiden name however then she said to call uscis and have my paperwork changed to my maiden name. So the following day I did and after a nerve wrecking phone call the agent said he updated the changes but I will receive notice as whether or not uscis approved the changes. I told them they name I want to use the name on my Birth certificate so I'm guessing they have to make sure everything matches they have my birth certificate anyways. They also said I should know by may 1st and will notify me if they need anything else. So I'm looking at least a 2-3 week setback with a possible RFE. :-((((((( oh wells it's no ones fault but my own I guess. I'm still kicking myself I hope everything turns out okay

Sorry to hear about your trouble. I think surely at most it will mean a little bit of a delay. Let us know how it's going. Thanks for posting. Helps keep the rest of us from unnecessary delays, hopefully.

Hi, congrats on your bio and interview. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you'll get your EAD in time before your interview being that you have been scheduled for interview for first week of May and you are yet to even do your bio. Personally, I'd say for you to just settle for getting your actual green card cause from all indications and if things go well for you guys at the interview which I hope it does, you'll have your green card in no time which will eventually make the EAD pretty much useless.

I wish you luck and if you could share your experience after your interview and timeline, I'm sure a lot of people here will gladly appreciate it. Thank you and God bless!

I only got my BIOMETRICS letter, not the interview yet :) . Im going first week of May for BIOMETRICS. My question was, what happens after i do biometrics?

Thanksssssssssssss

I didn't bother signing up for those...I just check it in the mornings...it's quick enough.

how is everyone preparing for the interview?

I'm not really preparing much right now...it's a few weeks away. I don't know that there is much to do anyway. We sent enough evidence..lust have to bring some more pictures and stuff...no biggy.

After your biometrics you wait for an interview notice...or a notification that your EAD card is being sent....whichever comes first. Most of us seem to be getting the interview notice first.

Thanks!!! I have a question.. My husband and me will be going on a trip for a few days to LA on mothers day weekend(We live close to Sacramento). Is it ok for me to travel by plane during my AOS? I have my passport and visa ok (meaning that my visa has NOT expired and my legal stay of 6 months has NOT expired by that time either, it will expired at the end of may). Should I take my Noas just in case so its a prove im in process? Or at the aiport they dont care about that because is a domestic flight? They just check the passport?

Thanks!!

i think as long as your flying within the country it should be okay, if you feel more comfortable you can bring your NOA's i mean it wouldnt hurt anyways.. go to http://www.tsa.gov/ im sure itll give you more information on traveling.

Yes, I read in other posts that i will just need a passport and my NOAS and I think that considering that my I-94 wont expired by that time things are cool :). I just want to be sure hehe .

Is it posible to get a state card (california id card, not a driving license) while AOS? Considering that I dont have a SSN? Is it possible?

Thanks!

This country has millions of people whose immigration status is not on the up-and-up and are flying every day. This is a non-issue. The only time this becomes problematic is a) when a person becomes a crime suspect or b) on rare occasions when an airline passenger inadvertently allows themselves to be re-booked on a foreign flight and has to go through border screening at an airport. This is a non-issue IMO. TSA are just checking for valid ID and suspicious behavior, and of course making us jump through hoops like trained dogs in the name of fighting terrorism. As long as you have an unexpired passport you're fine. Just do not, for example, allow an airline in Hawaii to rebook you on a Japan Airlines flight to the US, that much I know!

My wife was Canadian and overstayed (but married) when we got her California ID. We did have to deal with unpleasant and clueless people during the process. One irritable woman repeatedly informed us that all Canadians were required to have an A# and there was no telling her otherwise. We were warned by another DMV employee that the system might demand a Social Security # but it did not. We got her ID no problem. Tons of illegal immigrants have California ID and even CA drivers licenses.

12/24/2010 I proposed. She accepted and stayed.

Hello,

I just wanted to thank you for sharing this experience, because not only would I have done the same thing-I probably wouldn't have brought the marriage certificate! I hope your case continues to process quickly, but I wanted to share this with the April filers as well as thank you for allowing me to avoid this!
