Hey guys, im so nervous.... but I just want it to get it done, ya know....

One thing: the focus of the interview is on the USC or on the immigrant?

I dont know if I should take care of the papers( cos i know every single thing about the process) or should my hubby USC take care of that? The thing is he is not as involved as I am, and I am the one who been in this website researching and reading and he even says I should tr to go get a job as an immigration lawyer...

The thing that bothers me and worries me is the fact that he is not nervous at all, he say we have nothing to prove, and that im crazy and he blame the visa journey for making me obssessed... im just scared he is not paying the amount of attenttion we need...

Our interview is tuesday and today I asked him just joking, asking him questions, when is my birthday, he say: October?

my bday is in FEb, and Im freaking out, I cried so hard after that! hubby is driving me nuts!

I hope im right and im just overobssessed!

:bonk:

Sorry to hear, but this interview is very important, and if most time I've read the IO asks both parties the immigrant and citizen to verify each other birth dates ... Make sure you both have all your date straight and have the same answers, because he's your husband and not knowing your birthday will strike red flags and they might give you a stokes interview where they will question you like theres no ending to question... It's like your being interrogated... And your both question separately and then they compare your answers... I Pray For You

LOL, looks like a repeat of my story. I tended to be obsessive too and it was quite funny to see my husband having to play along. It is good yours has a sense of humor, I would not have been able to keep my sanity if my husband had not kept his cool throughout all this.

That having been said, I would suggest you both sit down a couple of days before the interview and ask each other questions that you think will come up at the interview. During the interview, the focus will be on both USC and immigrant (at least it was in mine), so it is better both of you have the facts straight.

Am sure your husband remembers your birthday

We got RFE was for birth certificate. Basically, it's not availiable since the applicant was never registered. The country we're from could not issue non-availiability certificate.

i need some help or opinions from you guys, the information i got from the US Embassy in regards to unobtainable birth certificate is as follow:

"Applicants who cannot obtain a birth record should request a certified statement from the appropriate government authority stating the reason why the birth record is not available. Applicants may then submit this certified statement along with secondary evidence of their birth. For applicants who reside in Hong Kong, the Certificate of Registered Particulars issued by the Hong Kong Immigrant Department, is accepted in lieu of an unobtainable birth certificate. A similar document can be obtained from the Macau Direcção dos Serviços de Identificação."

In response to the RFE, we only submitted the "Certificate of Registered Particulars", you guys think that's sufficient enough? or we'll need "certified statement from government authority" or any "secondary evidence, e.g. affidavits"? We worry INS will issue RFE again at interview.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.

I didn't have a registration of birth record either, but I was able to get a non-availability certificate from the local government agency in my home country. In your case, since the USCIS itself states so, I think the certificate you are submitting should be good enough, but since it also clearly states you should submit secondary evidence, you should do so. In my case, I submitted the following as secondary evidence during the application process itself and took the non-availability certificate with me to the interview.

1) Two affidavits from family elders (one from my my mother, one from my maternal aunt) stating their relationship to me and that they are aware of my birth and that it was not registered. Also included their age and addresses and how they came to know of my birth. Notarized the affidavits.

2) School records showing my date of birth

3) Documents issued by the government of my home country (driving license, income tax records) showing date of birth

4) If possible, a birth certificate that you can get from your country's consulate in the US (Mine issued one based on my passport details)

5) Passport

In my case, though my application was loaded with secondary evidence, the interviewing officer insisted on the non-availability certificate and if I had not carried it with me, I would have been issued a RFE.

Since you have already been issued a RFE and also responded to it, I would suggest you wait for it to be accepted and then you start collecting the secondary evidence to be shown at the interview.

On the other hand, if the RFE is not accepted, you may have to start all over again. Birth certificates are serious business and so are RFEs. You should have submitted what they asked for.

I am hoping your RFE goes through.Good luck!
