IMHO there is nothing selfish about attending the interview that you have paid close to 2K and waiting months for. The nephew will have many more birthdays and won't even remember that you were there or not.

When we went to our nephew's 1st-- it was more a party for everyone else than it was for the child. Trust me, you will be forgiven under the circumstances.. but that is just me

Congrats on the interview letter BTW

Wish they would get around to mine :crying:

You seem to be around 5 days behind me so you probably will get the interview letter notification tomorrow. Cross fingers. ;):P

I got a text today with an interview date scheduled for June 8th. Problem is my husband and I plan to travel back to Canada for our nephews 1st birthday which is June 7th. I am not sure what to do. I can't do both because they are a day apart. Do I do the selfish thing, attend the interview and miss his B-day or go and reschedule the interview?

Oh no ur interview is a bajillion more times important no disrespect to ur fam but they have to realize how expensive and tedious and time consuming and fragile this whole process is. You literally schedule your life around appts just so everything goes smoothly. The less rescheduling the better bc that leaves less room for delay and error. Send your nephew a present and tell him you'll take him to disney once you get your gc since we will be able to travel all over ??

I went to USCIS and put in the number for our forms, to check statuses. For the I485 I see the message

"On May 2, 2012, we mailed you an appointment notice for an interview for June 6, 2012, at NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER. "

This is good, presumably. But I was surprised because there have been no notices yet about EAD following our biometrics appointment, which seemed to go off without a hitch. And we've received no e-notifications of this or anything else yet.

Is this normal? Seems to be happening faster than normal, though of course maybe I'm just not paying much attention to the passage of time.

12/24/2010 I proposed. She accepted and stayed.

02/25/2011 Married!

03/19/2012 FINALLY submitted the AOS paperwork: I-130, I-485, I-765, etc.

03/23/2012 Received notification that USCIS has received everything.

03/26/2012 Biometrics Appointment Notice: April 23, 2012.

04/02/2012 NOA's received. Now we wait...

04/23/2012 Biometrics completed.

05/18/2012 EAD card mailed but not yet received.

06/06/2012 Rough interview but we think we're approved! Website says i485 status "Card Production".

06/12/2012 We received the "Welcome the United States" letters! Website says Green Card was mailed.

LIMBO: Green card lost in mail. Facing the possibility of paying hundreds in fees and basically repeating the entire process.

All good now! USPS lost it, then found it.

04/24/14 Back to VJ to get help with I-751, Removal of Conditions.

05/31/14 Mailed I-751 finally, with less than a week to deadline!

06/02/14 NOA1 (that was fast!)

07/01/14 Biometrics

7/25/14 Approved for Removal of Conditions

It seems like I'm the only one with an interview in less than 20 days and never got my EAD! O well, I guess things happened too fast for me. But I really wanted it so I could start getting my life together!!!! Good luck everyone else!

Hi all,

I haven't posted here as a March filer as I forgot about these such posts but I am here now, better late than never right. Congrats to all of those that I see are getting their EAD approvals and advanced paroles =).

I got a text today from USCIS stating my EAD had been requested for production and that my advanced parole was approved April 26, 2012. Does anyone know how the advances parole thing works? Is it also a card that is send or just an approval letter? What do you use to travel out of the US and back?

I think... the EAD will have some words to the effects of Permission to travel... written on the front. There are some sample EAD with AP combined... I'll look for it and post it.

Each time I've received any communication it's been on a Friday, my stuff was received 8th March... so would I be reasonable in hoping I'll hear something tomorrow regarding EAD? Interview in 20 days... at this point it's no long an issue, by the time it's in hand I'll be almost on top of the interview date.
