What is wrong with paying for someone's lunch? You seem overly paranoid and seem to suggest that if a man pays for a female friends meal, that they somehow "owe" them. This seems a lot like Rush's suggestion that women who get federally subsidized contraception should post videos of them having sex to pay for it.

Here's another example. My male friend and I have a standing Wednesday night at a bar. We have separate tabs, but buy rounds. If we buy three rounds, sometimes I pay for more than he does, and vice versa. We figure it all evens out in the end. But there have been a couple of times when he's treated me because it made him feel good to give me a gift. It's the same he'd do for male friends, and that I would do for female friends. Doing nice things for our friends when they don't expect it makes us feel good.

Having a "female friend" pay half the cost of dinner shouldn't be a problem since they're friends.

Ok, you're not one of those females that 'expects' to be treated, that is refreshing. Then you have a relationship where giving and doing things for each other is done because you enjoy the feeling of giving.

I do the same for my friends, both male and female, I treat them because I can, because I enjoy surprising them and I enjoy giving and sharing.
