HI All,

My wife recently filed for AOS/EAD/AP together (see sig for details).

We got our I-797 Notice of Actions for each of the filed applications, but with the social security number field being blank on each of the notices.

We realized that she had applied for SSN soon after she came here on her maiden name and forgot to update the name at SSA after the wedding. And we applied for AOS/EAD/AP on her "married" name and indicated her maiden name wherever applicable. In order to rectify the problem we headed straight to the SSN office where they told us that her status was about 8 days from expiration and that they wouldn't be able to update the information (married name) so close to expiration. She was advised to come back when the one of the AOS/EAD got approved as that would extend her status here until the expiration of the said document.

Are we okay here or is there going to be a problem when the gov't -- while processing the AOS/EAD/AP -- runs her name married name against the Social Security number and realize that it doesn't match .

It's not a problem - they do this every day. I don't know why you didn't put her SSN on the forms though.

It won't he a problem. That's why they ask for any other names used (aliases). Just get it changed when she AOS

It's not a problem - they do this every day. I don't know why you didn't put her SSN on the forms though.

We DID put the SSN on each form.

The USCIS NOA1's came with that field as "blank."

I thought that was clear.

Well from the rest of the responses, it seems like it won't be any trouble.

We'll just wait until we get the EAD or the GC and get the name change done then.
