Got my NOA-2 for my natural born son on March 2nd. So I guess the next step is at the NVC. I have checked all the guides, and forgive me if I missed something. Do I understand correctly (since it hasn't been mentioned anywhere) that only spouses use the DS-forms (choice of agent, etc). Will my case be transferred to the Consulate directly or are there other things to be done in between? Someone responded to me in another forum (six months ago) that from CSC the file is sent to NVC, NVC will issue Visa Number and send a packet to Consulate. I am just trying to anticipate what I should be preparing to do next.

Thanks,

Your case will go to the NVC. Since you are on the IR/CR route there is the whole process that is required by NVC. Where you will need to pay the IV fees and etc... only after that the case will be transferred to the Embassy. You can expect to spend about 2 month at the NVC stage, before the case will be directed to the embassy. Read the guides on the forum, they explain the NVC process.

Here is the link to the flow chart it is the same for everyone: http://www.visajourney.com/examples/NVC_Process_Flowchart_v1-2.pdf

The NVC will send you the IV & AOS fee. After paying the fees, you download the DS-230 & I-864. After to send in those form and the supporting documents, then the case goes to the US Embassy.

Here is what I don't understand. My minor child (16 years old) will be asked to fill out a Choice of Agent?

Not sure if this helps but my wife is the USC petitioner for me and our 2 kids. We applied for E.P. for all of our stuff and yes we did have to fill out a CoA for both of them and my wife is the CoA for all of us. It is really just "electronically signed" so there is no actual hand signature on it...it is not a problem, was exactly the same as doing my own. Seems to me so far the process is the same as usual, except that I dont think they require a police clearance..at least mine don't anyway.

Hi, I asked someone in the other forum about this and this is his reply.

"The DS-3032 form, signed by the visa applicant or responsible parent, allows you to name the agent who will receive NVC correspondence."

We have been filing out and submitting our kids paperwork via EP and so far have not had any issues. There is a section near the end where they ask if someone has assisted in filing in the form and what their relationship is. Since my wife is the petitioner and we are the beneficiaries, she puts down her name and either "spouse" or "parent" in the necessary location. It has not been difficult.
