Im unsure if I need to make a copy of my birth cert and have it certified or just bring my own to interview, can anyone tell me please?

Well it's always good to have copies, but I believe you could just make a photo copy for immigration and then show them both at the interview.

You order a certified copy from the agency that has the original on file. They both make and certify the copy. Nobody else can certify that the copy is a true copy of the original.

Hint: Ask what you really want to know the first time, and you'll probably only need to ask once. No, they won't keep it if you take the original certified copy for them to see and a photocopy of it for them to keep.

Sorry, but what you asked the first time wasn't anything like what you asked the second time. You NOT make copies and have them certified.

sorry to interrupt this "nice" conversation here but I think it was clear enough to understand what @realizement really meant so there is no need for hints like that

when it comes to your question, I've been advised by people who already had their interviews to just make a lot of copies and always bring the original with you to show as a proof that it is as per the original one :)good luck!

I order 2 copies from that site, and I'm going to bring my original.

You need copies for the AOS, so it's best to get a few copies now.

My fiance had his interview at the Dublin embassy today (approved and he had only one certified copy of his birth cert, which was sufficient. I am unclear from him if they kept it, but whatever they do keep, then send back in that giant envelope along with the visa.

You will probably hear back from the Embassy in about 2 seachtain(weeks), once they receive it.
