Danno, I would categorize it as an unreasonable fear. Why else would you continually support repressing the rights of gay people so that they don't have the same protections and benefits as you? I don't like social conservatives, but I would never suggest repressing their freedom, or even their religion. I believe all Americans should enjoy the same freedoms and rights. I thought you, as a conservative would support expansion of rights to all Americans, or do you not support freedom and democracy. Your version sounds much like the government of a very notorious government in history.

For most people Homosexuality is a bizarre expression of Human relations, that you would want to assign a special status to this small segment is odd yet not surprising.

Let's be a little specific, maybe we can find common ground. What rights do you have in mind for them that they don't already have in one form or another?

You only find it "bizarre" because of religious dogma (not exclusive to christianity). You have drawn a false conclusion about gay rights advocacy. They are not seeking special status or extra rights, they simply seek the same rights and protections that everyone else has. Since when does wanting the same protection and rights equal wanting special treatment? They do not have the right to marry, and all the legal and governmental accouterments that come with marriage.

How would you feel if you lost your tax benefits imbued to you because of your status as married? What if (god forbid) you or your wife became ill, and were denied the ability to make decisions on behalf of your partner? How can you continue to advocate a two class society?

FAIR TAX would eliminate any questions of sexuality and marital status and be FAIR to people of all sexual persuasions and eliminate a lot of the discrimination against gays by eliminating income tax.

Why would I do that Gary? I believe in the original intent of the second amendment, not the activist Heller decision. By the way Gary, as a point of correctness, it is actually FairTax, one word, not two separate words as it refers to a specific document. But I don't want to get this thread off track talking about guns, so I will digress back to the actual topic.

Like most people in the RUB forum, I support civil rights for ALL people. Gays included. Eliminating the income tax and replacing it with the FairTax (however you prefer to type it) would eliminate any tax issue regarding sexual orientation. There no longer being a "filing status" to concern oneself with. People would be counted as people only. Makes no difference if they are married, gay, straight, black, brown, white or purple.
