Hello AmazingLove!

We sent in a photo copy of the certified copy (I've read this is ok, just bring the original to interview). Yes, we sent in copies of our wedding pictures and honeymoon pictures, etc. My husband hasn't had any issues getting his SSN, but he didn't have to change his name. He has a biometrics appointment this Thursday.

So there won't be any problems if I fill out the I-485, EAD and AP application with my married name, but my SSN is still in my maiden name, right? They ask for my SSN in most of the papers, and I wonder if it might lead to problems if they check the docs against the SSN, and it shows different last names...?

I did it just like that and didn't have any problems so far :)

Once you get the ead/ ap in your married name, go to the ssn office and change your name on it accordingly. When you have that, you can also change the name on your dl, bank account etc...

hm... i didn't have any problems getting the ssn in my new name. all they wanted to see was the marriage certificate and that was fine.

Hey everyone I called the interviewing officer today to get an update about my case since I have not heard anything since the interview two weeks ago. She said that she sent her report with the approval which i guess goes up to liguna niguel and as of right now the process for them to update a case is taking between 30-60 days. It feels a lot better now that I know what to expect but she said to call back in a few weeks and she will try to get an update for me about my case. So fingers crossed I will hear something by either March 6 or April 6.

I had an interview a month ago with the local office and she sent my approval to csc and i am just waiting for them to process it into the system which should only be a few more weeks.

Haven't really been around here much lately. He finally had the interview with the local office last Friday 1st March. The Supervisor there said that most of the staff had been either fired or moved on (we had heard this previously from an Immigration lawyer). They had been promising things but not delivering. He then took my fiance to a room full of boxes of files and said .. 'yours will be in there somewhere'. His recommendation was to file again and then apply for an expedite - the alternative is to just keep waiting forever ... After 11 1/2 mths I just feel sick about it. And guess what... we still don't have a case number.

So really, he thinks that if we start again it wont get messed up with the other two petitions which are so intermingled now, I don't think anyone is going to resolve it. We could - its not impossible, they are defined by the dates of submission on each page :wacko: - but its probably just safer to start yet again.

If the expedite happens, that's one thing... if not ... what then.???

Anyway, good to see you guys moving along ... everyone seems to be moving in the right direction ... and very close if not there yet. Nice to hear :yes:

Mar 2011 - After 5mths denied for lost docs - Attempts to follow up failed. Mar 18 2012 - I-129F sent - No sign of NOA1 but they have banked the check...Jul 24 - Update - USCIS has located our file
Infopass Apt - they sorted through everything - our 2011 and 2012 file keep getting mixed up - getting us a Case# (still waiting) Dec- Infopass Appt- expecting to get a case # in about a week ..Still no Case number
Mar 2013 Infopass - advised file was in a box somewhere,and it would be quicker for us to refile. Life gets in the way... New petition submitted July 2014 .

This is just terrible! Those immigration workers go home after a day of work to be with their loved ones, which some of us still can't do because USCIS is messing things up! If you do re-file, I would definitely insist on an expedite based on USCIS error. Keeping my fingers crossed for y'all.
