Question of the day: What Port of Entry (POE) do you plan to use?

I know for some of you, it seems like it will never happen...BUT IT WILL!!! I am curious about the POE because I have been reading the reviews for JFK, which we plan to use, and it seems like they have a lot of trouble there. Depends on the day and the person, I guess. Sounds like VSC actually. Maybe they double as immigration officers at the airport for a part-time job :D

Our Journey:

10/02/2011: Met while working in Afghanistan
10/15/2011: First "date"
01/03/2012: Hired an attorney to file our K-1
02/05/2012: He returned to Macedonia
02/29/2012: My first visit to Skopje
03/03/2012: Met my future family
03/15/2012: I-129F package mailed / returned to Afghanistan
03/19/2012: Received notification of arrival of I-129F
03/21/2012: NOA1 mailed
07/15/2012: 2nd trip to Skopje
09/20/2012: NOA2 notice
10/05/2012: Attorney Received Case number from NVC
10/25/2012: Received packet 3 ( the same time I left on my flight back to the US)
11/06/2012: Medical Scheduled
11/15/2012: Interview - Denied due to "lack of proof of relationship"
11/27/2012; 2nd Interview scheduled - APPROVED!
11/29/2012: VISA IN HAND!
11/30/2012: POE NYC-JFK
12/12/2012: WEDDING!!!

02/26/2013: I-485 Filed

09/10/2013: Green card received NO INTERVIEW!!!!

So what happens at the POE? Thay can they do? I'm going to Washington DC Dulles Airport.

While there is still a very small chance of being turned away at the port of entry, it is not likely. The posts I have read from real experience were because the immigration officers at the POE suspected the K-1 VISA holder was already married to her/his fiancee or could not answer simple questions about the person they were about to marry. When being asked who was meeting her at the airport, she replied "my husband". This was a red flag and so she got further questioning. She could not give her new address or describe her new home, etc. She was sent back on the next plane. From the sounds of it, she didn't speak English very well and there was a communication problem. (I believe this was at LAX). Apparently, POE has the final say-so regardless of what the US Embassy says. This is directly from the US State Department Website regarding K-1 VISAs:

"Entering the United States - Port of Entry

A visa allows a foreign citizen to travel to the U.S. port-of-entry and request permission to enter the United States. You should be aware that a visa does not guarantee entry into the United States. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials have authority to permit or deny admission to the U.S. Upon arrival at the port-of-entry, be prepared to present to the CBP officer your passport with visa and your unopened/sealed packet containing your documents. Travelers should review important information about admissions and entry requirements on the CBP website under Travel."

Sometimes they ask...sometimes they don't. Your fiancee should be prepared to still answer questions if necessary. Again, it sounds as if it all depends on who you get that day and what kind of mood they are in.

VisaJourney has POE reviews though. Check them out.... http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/poereviews.php

And don't worry...just be prepared for a wait and/or questions and everything should be fine! :)

Well... I'm not worried about questioning at all. This is a real relationship so I shouldn't have any problems. I think that honest people are not returned at the POE, why would they be? ;) When I was in the US last year they were very kind and were even joking :)
