My fiancé and I are Christians so we can't be too alone the first few weeks he is here. We are planning to wait until we are married to sleep together. However, there is a plan for lots of kisses, so to avoid embarrassing our friends we have 2 days planned where it will be just him and I... In public. I live in the DC area so there is lots to do. My family and friends live all through out the east coast so every weekend we will be traveling somewhere else. This way come wedding day, he already knows people. It is a guest list of mostly my friends since his cant come. We will be married soon after his arrival though.. We've waiting long enough to be together, so why wait 90 more days?

I respect your beliefs, and wish you a beautiful wedding! We also will get married right away with just a civil service, then plan a big one later for our family and friends for a blessing.

Hahaha I love how all our stories begin with the obvious...

I'm going to hand my tiger the keys to our Buttercup and say, "Baby, just DRIVE!"

Sure.... Besides being sequestered for a few days :), I plan on taking him for a tour of his new home... Then some real Texas barbecue then for his favorite food - pizza - which he doesn't get much of in Jamaica... I plan on letting him experience all the variety of pizzas there are in our home town over time....

Mmmm Pizza!!!! :thumbs::dance: :dance: :dance:

So to break the waiting ice, how did everyone meet their fiancé/fiancée?

We met while both working in Afghanistan. He was sitting alone at a table in the dining facility at lunch. My co-workers and I sat down at his table and I sat across from him and TALKED HIS HEAD OFF! I couldn't stop thinking of him afterwards and finally, two weeks later, gave him my email address. It is history from there. :)

Our Journey:

10/02/2011: Met while working in Afghanistan
10/15/2011: First "date"
01/03/2012: Hired an attorney to file our K-1
02/05/2012: He returned to Macedonia
02/29/2012: My first visit to Skopje
03/03/2012: Met my future family
03/15/2012: I-129F package mailed / returned to Afghanistan
03/19/2012: Received notification of arrival of I-129F
03/21/2012: NOA1 mailed
07/15/2012: 2nd trip to Skopje
09/20/2012: NOA2 notice
10/05/2012: Attorney Received Case number from NVC
10/25/2012: Received packet 3 ( the same time I left on my flight back to the US)
11/06/2012: Medical Scheduled
11/15/2012: Interview - Denied due to "lack of proof of relationship"
11/27/2012; 2nd Interview scheduled - APPROVED!
11/29/2012: VISA IN HAND!
11/30/2012: POE NYC-JFK
12/12/2012: WEDDING!!!

02/26/2013: I-485 Filed

09/10/2013: Green card received NO INTERVIEW!!!!

I'm doing the same thing too, too stressful to actually plan a formal wedding while waiting for the NOA2, coz who knows when it will actually come!

Have you found out what is needed for a civil marriage? Just walk into city hall?

I respect your beliefs, and wish you a beautiful wedding! We also will get married right away with just a civil service, then plan a big one later for our family and friends for a blessing.

Feel free to vent/rant all you want here; make yourself at home. This is a great group that is very supportive. I probably whine the most ;)

Haha, thanks. Yes, I'm sure I'll be doing some venting. Nice to know I'm in good company. :) Everyone in the February Filers thread is so far past me I don't feel like I have anything in common with them anymore!

TOPIC FOR TODAY: What's the first thing you plan to do when your fiance gets to the states?

Oh man, we've been talking about this a LOT lately. It's nice to be able to plan some things and have a positive to focus on! As soon as Nick gets here we're getting married at the court house (our true wedding will be in the Spring or Fall. 3 months is just not enough time to plan a wedding and get all of his family here from England! Plus, we want to file for AoS asap so he can start working and driving like a normal person, haha). The next thing we're doing is going to Washington DC for a few days. I feel like if he's moving here he should see the capital, right? :) Then to visit my folks so he can finally see my childhood home, and spend a few days at the beach... and back home to our 'new' regular routine. I can't wait! :D

It's very simple. For North Carolina, just walk into City Hall with identity and the fee. You are granted the marriage license immediately, no waiting or blood test. After that, just go to Justice of the Peace right down the hall.

Haha, thanks. Yes, I'm sure I'll be doing some venting. Nice to know I'm in good company. :) Everyone in the February Filers thread is so far past me I don't feel like I have anything in common with them anymore!

I'm finding harder and harder to stay positive and being patient. Praying constantly like a mad woman and to no avail.--no answer, nothing in the mail, no status change. I want to curl up into a ball and cry! What else have y'all been doing to cope?

This has been one of the most agonizing, torturous process that I've ever had to deal with. My fiance has tried helping me to look on the bright side of things, and yet even his words of encouragement isn't doing much for me. I'm not motivated to work or do anything. I know that I'm not the only one dealing with this process. *sigh* If only I can crawl into a cave and spend the next 2 weeks there with no access to the internet, maybe then I'll feel a little better.

I completely understand how you're feeling. Don't know what else to say except to try hard not to think about it too much....it's completely out of our hands. We're all hanging out on this thread waiting patiently (sometimes impatiently)....we try to console each other while we wait... Feel free to hang out with us and take part in the discussions....

Disney is Not crazy at all!!! I have been three times and only once with kids. :) It was on my list but we picked Vegas...Fast, fun, easy and cheap. Getting married IN A LIMO on the strip. Stopping for cool photos at all the hot spots and then on with our lives...finally!! Oh, and we picked 12/12/12 as our date. Going all out cheesy but we don't care. :)
