I read on the Bureau of Consular Affairs website where it said:

K visa applicants are encouraged to get the vaccinations required under U.S. immigration law for immigrant visa applicants. Although such vaccinations are not required for K visa issuance, they will be required when adjusting status to that of legal permanent resident following your marriage. Applicants are therefore encouraged to fulfill these vaccination requirements at the time of the medical examination. See Vaccination Requirements for IV Applicants for the list of required vaccinations and additional information.

So that means K visa applicants can choose not to take any shot at medical exam, and can fulfill that later on in the US......but some people said they need to have vaccinations before they are granted a visa which confused me.

I read the same thing 5 minutes ago :) I think it is safer to take them in your country, as long as they accept it in the US... I don't know what to do anymore. I'll just follow their requirements..

08-02-2013 - update from USCIS (it may take another 6 months from now due to delays!)

In Jamaica I believe you HAVE to get them at the Medical if you haven't had them, before you can get your K1 visa issued.

So.. another march filer got approved. I dont know why he or she posted it today, but you can see in recent immigration dicussionhis/her thread. He/she got her/hi NOA1 on march 26. Let's wait another week..

Why am I thinking about the medical if I don't even have my NOA2? :) I have a lot of free time now so I'll just gather information, my medical history and other documents so I can send it to the Embassy ASAP in the future.

While waiting for NOA2, we can start gathering those documents to keep ourself busy a bit. By the time the embassy gets our approved petition we can turn in required forms ASAP to have interview appointment scheduled at earliest possible date.

This week is our week!

After looking through hundreds of numbers if not thousands looking for NOA1s from 3/9/2012 to 3/15/2012 it is clear to see that K1s are definitely not a priority... thousands of petitions for work permission, protected status, adoptions, etc... are processed almost immediately ... :bonk: I guess everyone is understaffed these days so you have to make a priority call...

3/12/2012 ..... Received NOA1 by calling USCIS

3/16/2012 ..... USCIS deposited my check

8/13/2012 ..... NOA 2 approved!!!

8/17/2012 ..... Received case # from NVC

8/21/2012 ..... NVC sent packet to Embassy

8/30/2012 ..... Embassy received packet and sent verification email

9/20/2012 ..... K-1 Visa approved at U.S. Embassy
