Ok so I got the notification 15 mins ago, I was with my fiancée . We went just now to a café and I told her even though I was excited that we need to prepare for the worst scenario.. We got hyped up still only to find out we got the RFE notification.

On one side we are bummed out but we are feeling better now as te RFE process is not so long. I'm sure ya something stupid I forgot ( like the rest of the passport

pages) and this should set us back another 3 wks??

WHats the ongoing average on RFEs?

That sucks but at least your case was looked at. I think the average is 21 to 25 days for an RFE, but if you turn it around quickly maybe you can speed it up. I have a priority mail envelope ready to go if I get one.

I've seen a few recently go as fast as 14 days. Not a huge speed bump by any means. You're almost out of the woods!! Congrats!! It's good news, they worked on your case! :)

All I'm trying to do is get my fiance with me in the US before Christmas. Why does it have to be so hard after almost 7 months and 2+ or more to go? We once thought that she would already be here by now but those hopes were crushed months ago.

Any more delays and that will be an impossible goal. I will be forced to spend $2000 on airfare to go to Manila for a week. All to turn around and spend another $1000 to get her here probably soon after.

Not to mention that my entire personal life is on hold while my petition is being ignored.

Calling USCIS is an absurd waste of time and only causes frustration.

I'm freaking out!!!

I am VERY happy your case is at least in forward motion. Don't be hung up that it's an RFE... you could still be lost in Wonderland with us.

Second, I rest my case about VSC ignoring the 9's. :innocent:

I'm hoping he's here by Thanksgiving, although that hope is starting to fade away as each day goes by. I feel so helpless. Congressional office or calling USCIS serves no purpose. Has anyone tried the Ombudsman? If so, how long before you get a response?

Thanksgiving would be great however it's impossible to make any sort of plan because so much can go wrong in this process where nothing has gone right.

My congresswoman is literally inquiring for the second time at this time. I put in a service request on 9/12, and there is nothing but crickets on both accounts.

Meanwhile, people who filed after me are flying by with grins.

Same here... my congressman put in an inquiry for the second time and they claim it could take 2 weeks to hear anything. In addition to that, they've done a status request and no word either. Does anyone have a direct phone # to VSC? :crying::crying::crying:

When I responded to my RFE it took around 2 weeks to get approval. So answer it as soon as your receive it in the mail.

When responding to a Request for Evidence it is extremely important that you place the blue coversheet on the top of the response you send to them. The VSC receives thousands of pieces of correspondence each day, if the blue coversheet is not on the top of the response it will be placed in “general” correspondence and NOT sorted as a priority, which may delay your case.

I also used USPS priority mail with tracking for around $2.35. Don't get signiture required.
