Tax return transcripts or Federal income tax returns?

Hello VJ family!

Me and my husband got married on K1 VISA and sent the AOS package like month ago. I got a RFIE on the mail that ask for another Form I-864. We filled another one using the example forms so I hope it is ok this time.

We mailed 3 tax return transcripts (2008, 2009, 2010) but on the RFIE letter they ask for "petitioner's most recent Federal Income tax returns". My question is (it is silly but I'm not familiar with the US tax law) is the tax return transcript the same thing like Federal income tax return or no? Or they may be asking for the 2011 transcript?

Thank you in advance for your time and the responses :)

Tax return transcripts are ordered from the IRS. They aren't the papers you file or the things you file online for tax returns. Its the result of what you file that the IRS has. ( not sure how else to explain that one lol )

But ya I just ordered ours for 2009/ 2010/ 2011. Free on the IRS website and will take 5-10 days to get them. ( last time only took 4 days to get them )

Tax transcript is preferred document for I-864, order it and you will avoid any tax support document hassle you could have for I-864. Good luck.
