I-130 questions

Hi,

I am filling out the I-130 form and need clarification with few questions. I thank you in advance for your time and input.

Petitioner:

Q-10: Since I will be a naturalized citizen of the US at the time of applying, I will put "none" in the Alien Registration Number field. Please confirm.

Beneficiary:

Q-9: When in the US, my husband had a social security number. I will put this number in the SSN field. Please confirm.

Q-10: When in the US on international student visa, my husband had some sort of A-number assigned to him. I will not write this down in the A-number field, since I think that was some sort of temporary number, and will put "none" instead. Please confirm.

Q-15: I will put down the name of my husband's current employer in his home country (however, I have a feeling that they may be asking about employment in the US, if applicable because of the questions before and after). I can only fit the name, city and country in the designed field (I am typing). Is that OK?

Q-21: In this section I will write down his apartment address in his home country where we lived together during my last trip and I will include my trip dates in the "From-To" section. Please confirm.

You are not applying, you are petitioning. Although you will be a citizen at the time you file, you have an A number assigned to you and you should write it down.

Wrong, you must write down his A number.

Your feeling is incorrect, the form is asking for his current employer. If the space on the form itself is not sufficient to supply the requested information, write "See Attached" on the form and attach a separate sheet with the complete information. Be sure to reference the question on the attached sheet.

Visiting is not living together, so writing the dates from your last trip would not be correct. An acceptable answer for this question is "We have not yet lived together." I used this phrase when I completed my I-130 and had no issues.

I can print the answer for this question by hand so that I can fit everything. Is that ok?

Is it ok to do that, there is no requirement that says you cannot do that. However, why would you want to do that when it is much simpler to do what I suggested earlier.

No, that does not count.

Your Naturalization Certificate will have the A number printed on it. Naturalization does not mean the A# goes away and if a form asks for it, it needs to be written down.

I have one more question about filling out the I-130. In question 20, it asks to WRITE the name and address in spouse's native alphabet (if non-Roman letters). Do I have to hand write it or can I just type it in using the computer?

On the right hand side of that question where it asks where the beneficiary will apply for a visa at a Consular post abroad, you would put the city where the Embassy/Consulate is located and the country.

thank you for your prompt reply. I must have misunderstood what they were asking on Question 22 where they ask "Complete the information below if your relative is in the US and will apply for adjustment of status".
