I was reading somewhere and even heard it from a friend that you can have a proxy marriage with USCIS, is this so?

I went online and checked some proxy marriage sites and they said that it is acceptable and they will even help you

with your USCIS filing of all papers and they say they get good results for people. I have talked to them and I

dont understand this way or how it can be even possible.. So help..

My sister inlaw was thinking about doing this. I even called USCIS and they could not give me an answer either

way. She, my sister inlaw will be going in 3 months to her fiance, I do wish her lots of luck, but I wish to

find out if she will be doing something wrong or not?

Your help pls for my sister inlaw.

She also said someone told her to stop her fiance case as well, I am at a loss of words to tell her cuz I have

my own case to wait for so any help will take stress off me to try and help her..

Proxy weddings are only valid for immigration purposes if the marriage was consumated afterwards, ie if the couple met in person afterwards. Since you need to do this, it is easier to get married in person in most cases, which USCIS seems to prefer anyway from anecdotal evidence on this site. Your sister-in-law already had a K1 fiance petition filed? If so do NOT get married, she would need to start again and it will delay things.

I'd just like to add to penguin_ie's advise that with a proxy marriage, you could end up being caught in limbo. You're too married for a fiance(e) visa, and not married too little for a spouse visa - at least in the eyes of immigration. Passing USCIS is one thing, another is the embassy.

When your sister-in-law goes to see her fiance, they're better of either pursuing the fiance visa or getting married in person and going for the CR1. Immigration can be a hassle with those small things. Even though it might be accepted, it's no guarantee of approval all the way through to a successful journey.

Good luck. :)
