I'm overly stressed I contacted the U.S Embassy and also the NVC and they both have confirmed that my fiance's interview is on April 3rd but we have yet to receive the interview package, should we be worried? Should I proceed and purchase my plane ticket? The last letter I received was from the NVC that they were sending our case to the embassy.

Please advice....Thanks in advance....

I think you have to wait until visa on hand, then you can purchase plane ticket. You are overly stressed now, so I guess that will add more stress to you if you have already plane ticket and still no definite time of visa approval. Your fiance can already proceed for his medical exam, no need to wait for the interview package. The interview package doesn't arrive on time and sometimes you have to wait forever. There are list of documents / requirements needed to bring to the interview. I think you can check it at USCIS website or at the local US consulate website where your Fiance will be interviewed. You can also check it out here on VJ. Good luck and have a blessed day!:)

Is it you want to be there for your fiance's interview? If it's to buy a ticket to bring him to the US, then confuse30 is right. Not a good idea to buy a ticket until he is approved.

Anyway, good advice you've received. Contact the embassy and also review their site for required docs. If you already sent some of those docs to NVC, the embassy should already have them (that is, no need for you to bring them again). The interview letter should say which items they have already, and which the applicant still needs to bring.

Good luck!

Do not buy a plane ticket until the visa is on hand or approved after the interview.

I'm referring to the ticket for myself, I am aware that I should not purchase his until his Visa is Approved.

What was the date of your NOA2? What date did you get the NVC letter?

Take note that the postal system in the Dominican Republic is very bad. You may not actually receive the packet at all. Its 50/50 really. Some people do, some don't.

What you need to do is go to the Embassy's website:

http://santodomingo.usembassy.gov/k1-k2_instructions.html

You need to take care of all the business on that site (prepare you and your fiance/e) for the interview. The instructions that come in the packet are nearly identical to the ones on the site. Just follow them and prepare. Once you receive the actual packet all you really need is the "medical appointment letter". Once you receive that letter you need to get you medical done ASAP. If you do not receive the "packet" at all, you need to contact the Embassy and request a duplicate packet. The duplicate packet is to be picked up from the Embassy and you can get the Medical in the same day.

K1 Visa Process -> 12/09-06/10 Married -> 09/10/10 AOS Process -> 09/10-12/10 Removal of Conditions-> 09/12-07/13

U.S. Naturalization -> 7/8/20

NOA2 dated January 6, 2012 and NVC dated February 1, 2012. As far as the packets should we be expecting 2 packets or just the interview packet.

There's just one packet. There are instructions inside that tell how to prepare of the interview. The I sent you before has the same instructions. So follow them exactly. Also, inside of the packet is the "Medical Appointment Letter" You will need this so you can get you medical done. That's why you need to received the packet in "hand". If you don't receive it 10-14 days before your interview you NEED call them and arrange a time you can go an pick up a duplicate packet and then go to the Medical place (seperate location) and get the medical done the same time. If the Dominican resident lives in outside Santo Domingo it may be a hardship to travel them more than once, so you should do everything in the same day (if possible). As long as you have the Medical Appointment Letter, you can go anytime to the Medical Center to take your exam and get you vaccinations. Just check the link below to see the best times to go.
