My husband had his POE 2/4, one month ago.

We went the following Monday to SS office and requested the number, per what the lady said at POE. The SS lady said his card should take up to four weeks to arrive. GC was supposed to take 1-4 months.

We got some notices from USCIS of arrival a week ago.

His GC arrived today. But we need the SSN. Should we go back to SS office or keep waiting? I feel like the order got switched around and something might be wrong...I tried searching here but couldnt find anything relevant.

Thanks in advance!

It takes a few days for the entry to get recorded. Normally you are told to wait 14 days after entry before going to get the SS card, that way they time to get you entered into the system and it goes pretty fast. If you go in before you are entered into the system, it's fine. It just takes a few extra weeks to get everything matched up. My guess is you will have the SS card within another week or two. From posts here it looks like it takes 4 to 6 weeks if you go into the SS office before you are in the system, so it looks like you are still within the normal timeframe.
