After filing in March 2012, I heard nothing for about 2 months. So, called the USCIS number and they requested an update. I received a letter around 17 June (+-3) dated 7 June that I should receive an interview notice in 60 days. If not, I should make an appointment though INFOPASS and go into the local office. Is this normal? (by the way, fingerprints were not required because I had them done for an I-131 less than a year ago).

It went past 60 days and I called again. They put another request in and I was told they would get back to me around 21 August. I am overseas and don't want to fly into simply to request an interview. Which could take, I don't know how long. Flying in for requesting an interview, then the interview then the nat. ceremony is a lot of flying.

Also, I am sure i will miss the august naturalization date. Does anyone know being overseas is criteria to get into the 75 person courthouse ceremony in LA? How does one qualify for that?

LA USCIS nat. ceremony schedule on 23 August I will not make. I will keep my fingers crossed for 21 September.

Any insight would be appreciated.

First of all sorry to hear about your experience.

I had the exact same experience but instead of the N-400, what they did the same to me was my I751 (ROC) application. No response for a while, told 60 days then again nothing.

I suggest you get hold of your congressman and seek assistance ASAP. Usually a prolonged and excused response possibly indicates that they have LOST your application but don't want to admit they did.

Good luck! Sometimes you have to push them.

Applied for passport on 07/31/2012 and got it in the mail today. I used normal processing routine service. 2 weeks is pretty fast.

That is super fast for regular processing. You are all done, enjoy!!!

What does "EB xx/xx/xx" mean?

I think it means Early Biomertics. Some people do walk-in to get their biometrics done earlier than scheduled date so xx/xx/xx is the date they did walk-in.
