Finally I get to a laptop to share my crazy experience.

So my experience started with USCIS when they lost my paperwork for almost a month, not cool, then I was told I did not qualify for the 319(b) Expedited Naturalization, even though I did. I sent an email to Fairfax VA office to request an interview with them because they are familiar with the 319(b), they forwarded my email to Boston who got in touch with me and they were great, the USCIS Officer there was amazing. He knew all about the 319(b) and did everything he could for me, then we hit a snag, he was on leave two weeks ago and said the my local office would be the best to interview me and he sent an email to them requesting they interview me, thats where we hit yet another snag. My local office refused to have my packet sent to them because my N400 packet wasn't cleared when they checked, yet half an hour later it was complete and they said I was good to go, however my local office had refused the packet and USCIS scheduled my appointment. Last week the USCIS Officer in Boston emailed me again and asked what had happened and if I had had my interview etc, when I told him no and why he was p*ssed, he moved heaven and earth to get me interviewed as we were only here for a week. Anyways he couldn't get my packet last week so asked me to stay an extra week and he would do his best to interview me and have my Oath done. My packet was on its way to Fairfax VA last week, he got on the phone on Monday this week and found out they had my packet, he asked them to forward it overnight to Boston, he called them back half an hour later and my packet was still sitting on a shelf so hadn't gone out in the mail. He made them go and get it and promise to mail it Tuesday overnight. He called me Tuesday and asked me to be in Boston between 1400 and 1500 on Wednesday for an interview, I was there early and sent him an email letting him know I was in town. So yes at 1315 I had my interview and was approved for Naturalization. The IO asked if I had any family around that would want to be there for my Oath, I said my kiddo and MIL. I had an Oath Ceremony with the Regional Director of USCIS and he just kept saying thanks for everything and for being so hardworking with my packet and getting to the Interview stage. Anyways I am now all done, I am an American Citizen with a passport, I am happier than a pig in sh*t :D

Here are the questions they asked me:

Name three of the original thirteen colonies

Name one state that borders Mexico

Who is the Commander in Chief of the Miitary

What are the two major political parties in the US

What is the political party of the President now

Who wrote the Declaration of Independence

Then the Reading and Writing:

Who is George Washington?

George Washington was the first US President (my writing)

I have to say I am very lucky to get this done so quickly, I honestly believe it was because I wrote an email to Fairfax VA and they had the good grace to forward it to Boston and it was received by an incredibly good IO.

I have to say that this has been an incredibly stressful time and I am truly glad its all over. I wish you all the best in the future with your Naturalization process :)

Oh and I guess if we really want to keep all the dates on the thread, my interview notice was May 23rd, interview date May 23rd, Oath Ceremony May 23rd and my office ended up being Boston, MA. If anyone wants to add my info feel free, I don't want to go messing up the info, thanks :)

WOW! You must be VERY lucky to get an IO that's going beyond the call of his duty! My goodness only if anybody at USCIS is like that.

I'm waiting for my N-400 interview letter, irony is my ROC is STILL EFFING PENDING AFTER 11 MONTHS!

I was able to get some push after my congressman got involved in my ROC madness. Now they are just going to "Process both applications at the same time."

Hope your interview goes well tomorrow, I am sure you will do well, I was nervous too but the interview was over before I knew it. I didn't even realize I had answered my six questions, it really did go that fast. O even asked the IO if that was my 6 questions and he just laughed. Oh and go over your N400 they will ask you questions on travel that you have done since you became a PR.

I am travelling on Saturday, so I had an appointment with the National Passport Centre (the IO told me to go ahead and do make the appointment before I was interviewed) and went in this morning at 0800 and had my passport by 1030. I had to show my travel arrangements, my CoN, a photo id and pay almost $200, but it was well worth it. If you are planning on travelling shortly after your Oath you can schedule an appointment too and get your passport in a day.

Good Luck tomorrow, can't wait to hear your great news :D

Congrats Beth and Billy! That is great news. May I ask how you got your passport so quickly? I have my interview tomorrow, getting nervous!

My interview was yesterday, and I passed! Yay!

Here's how it went in details. As you can see, my local office is San Francisco, and I would advise to be there about 15 minutes before your appointment because the building's security is serious. It took us about 10 - 15 minutes just to get through the door. My appointment was at 3.15PM and I was told that it is the last appointment of the day. We ended up waiting for about an hour, and they were closing the office down and stuff so it was getting scary since we were the only people there. I went into the interview around 4.15PM.

The interview itself took only 15 minutes. First the IO asked for my passports, green card and ID. Then he went through every line of the N400 application to verify that all information in it was correct. When he got to the part about my spouse, he started asking questions about what he does, how long he's been at his job, etc. Then he asked who else lives at our house, and I told him it was just us plus three rabbits. He seemed to get a kick out of my answer and loosened up a little bit, which was nice. He then asked to see the originals of my husband's birth certificate and our marriage license. He also took our copy of the 2011 tax return for the file since I've filed our taxes after submitting the application packet.

Then we went through the civics questions, which were:

How many years do we vote for US Representatives?

How many voting members are in the House of Representatives?

In what month is the Presidential election?

Who is the Chief Justice of the US?

Who is the Father of our country?

What wars did the US fought in the 1900s?

Then I had to read "When do we vote for the President?" and wrote, "We vote for the President in November."

Then he printed out the interview results paper and checked the "congratulations" box, and told me to expect the oath letter in 3-4 weeks. Then I asked him when generally to expect to attend the oath ceremony after the interview and he said around 6 weeks after the interview.

That's it, folks. I am so glad this all is coming to an end. Thank you all for going through this together. Good luck on your upcoming interviews. My husband and I will definitely celebrate after this is all over, we'll probably have a party or something. Anyways, have a great long weekend, everybody.

Welcome and Good Luck good.gif
