Influenza Vaccine

The original was done 4/2011 in Egypt. On 2/29/12 we went to a civil surgeon to make sure all shots were up to date for our AOS. The CS didn't mention a Flu Shot as he completed the I-693.

Curious to know what he indicated beside the flu shot. Technically it is flu season and "not flu season" isn't appropriate. But it will not be flu season when your case is adjudicated so it will still be excused, even if the CS made a slight mistake.

Sorry. Missed your post earlier. Any contra-indicated shot is marked as not medically appropriate by the doctor. That allows a waiver and the shot is excused forever and ever or perhaps until the contra-indicated condition no longer exists (example pregnancy). He will be given a waiver for the flu shot. Here's the containdications for adults http://www.immunize....atg.d/p3072.pdf

@Thomas70--we understand K1s do not have to get shots. The people in this thread are trying to get complete on their DS-3025 at their visa exam. Then they will not have to pay a civil surgeon in the US to copy over their records and add any new shots they were missing. Civil surgeons can be expensive and a hassle. Many refuse to do only the shot record and insist on a complete exam. I've seen people quoted $350. All of that can be avoided by getting it ALL recorded on the visa medical form. USCIS will accept it if no shots are missing.

The posts i replied to were discussing FLU shots, including the OP. Just letting them know they don't need to take them no matter their allergy or what season it is. thx. Also mentioned they would need shots for AOS, so is their choice when to do it. not trying to talk anyone out of anything here.

The I-693 reads on it above the vaccination list NOTE: for purposes of the influenza vaccine, the flu season is October 1 through March 31..The CS marked " Not age appropriate" on my I-693.

Well, that is odd. I am sure you are over 6 months of age. I think your CS had no clue the rules had changed for the flu shot back in Nov. 2010. http://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/exams/ti/civil/updates/action-recommendations-flu-vaccine.html

The required dates for a flu shot are Oct 1-Marc 31 but there is a lot of wiggle room there. I've posted this a gazillion times so will cut and paste some things:.

**Note on flu shot: flu shots are required for adults of all ages (changed Nov 2010) if your UK exam was between (Oct 1 and March 31). But if the
AOS
adjudicator picks up your case when it is not flu season, you will be excused.

Sorry to bring back a 2012 thread. I have a dilemma.

My k1 medical in London is in December, however I will not be entering the US and applying for AOS till the beginning of May. I want to decline the flu shot during my k1 medical as by the time I enter the US and apply for AOS it wont be flu season anymore. If the flu shot is the only shot that I decline then will I still be signed off by the London medical team as ok or will they sign me as incomplete and force me to have to see a civil surgeon for AOS? Another question, can this issue instead be waived by the adjudicator instead of me having to start over in the US with a civil surgeon.

Thank you for your help,

Alex

Apologies. I didn't see the second and third pages with further info. I guess that leaves me with the sole question as to whether if the flu shot is missing, the USCIS guidelines that are quoted below will just be processed administratively as part of the AOS application or whether I will be required to pay for a civil surgeon to do it for me.

This comes from USCIS:

(C ) Steps to determine the necessary vaccinations . [Chapter added 12-15-2009]

Step 3 . If the required vaccinations were not received or not marked as “not medically appropriate” as of the date the medical exam was conducted,
determine whether the missing vaccinations would still be required as of the date of adjudication
.

Step 4 .
If the missing vaccinations are no longer required, the vaccination requirements have been met.
This is, for example, the case when the applicant has aged out,
or it is not the flu season
