My daughter (USC) born and raised here, will only eat Heinz beans thanks to my darling hubby. But hey...at least she eats them now. She loves them on toast. She can't wait to get to the UK so she can eat them all the time instead of when our local supermarket has them in stock. We arrive next Monday the 12th and I already know she wants beans on toast as her first meal.

Hi all fellow Brits. Just a quick find - I have been paying over $2 for Heinz beans in Kroger and recently tried their own brand 'Vegetarian Beans' $0.63 a tin. Taste like any tin of British supermarket baked beans! Happy days! Although my wife doesn't think me eating too many beans will make her happy!

We found these also - a couple years ago quite by accident. Lovely find. I've never mastered the husband's affinity for beans on toast, but I love watching him roll his eyes (like he's in heaven) when he eats it.

If you're looking for a "local" tea, try Tetley's British Blend. It's nice.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

I love beans on toast.. we ate that a lot growing up.. it has to be the beans with molasses, brown sugar etc.. I dislike the beans that are in the tomato sauce

Thanks! I'll be around lurking because eventually (after I get my UK citizenship) we'll be back and since Glyn didn't get citizenship before he left....we'll be starting all over again :bonk: with US immigration.

I very occasionally find tins of real British-made Heinz Baked Beans at the 99-Cent Only stores out here. Last time I did I bought 25 at one time! I am ready for the zombie apocalypse.

Beans just need the right kind of toast. :)

None of this HFCS and preservative-laden American carp. <_<

I will only eat them on real bread (occasionally also found).

The ex likes crappy American bread and will eat his beans very happily on cakey toast. Blurgh.

I think there's an old thread on here. Or five. lol. Kathryn41 lives outside Atlanta and has mentioned some shops. I'll give her a nudge.

I grew up on homemade bread so to me any other bread doesn't compare but that being said I will settle for store bought bread because I never seem to get around to making my own bread ..:P
