Multi-entry visa needed for Vietnam

Hi gang. Long time no see. In a hard drive crash I lost a link i had for here that went over where and how to get a multi-entry visa to Vietnam. I current have the special spouse visa, but it expired last month since my passport is now six months from expiration.

Now I need a multi-entry visa for May (not spousal, just standard multi-entry), as I do not have time to renew the passport prior to leaving. A one entry visa won't work because we plan on visiting Thailand while in Vietnam.

Googling gives me so so many websites that are not affiliated with the Vietnamese embassy, so I figured I might as well come on on here and ask. :)

$200 sounds about right for a 6 month multiple entry visa.

What I paid for various visa types.

$80 - 1 month single entry

$110 - 1 month multiple entry

$160 - 3 month multiple entry

So $200 is about right.

But... How do you plan to enter Thailand if your passport is expiring in less than six months (I assume it's a US passport)?

ENTRY / EXIT REQUIREMENTS FOR U.S. CITIZENS: If you are a U.S. citizen tourist staying for fewer than 30 days, you do not require a visa, but your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the date of your entry into Thailand.

Depending on which Vietnamese Consulate you apply a 6 month multiple entry is not a gimmee. They tend to want a work permit or some type of work contract that requires anything beyond a 3 Month. Six months used to be easy, but that changed a few years ago.

Of course as with anything in Viet Nam, a little coffee money or knowing the right people can overcome the issue.

VN is trying to do away with the 6 mo visa.. they have been for a few years.. they like to stick with the 90 day max.. they make the long term visas more expensive now to deter people from visiing and working... too many workers on tourist visas.. the visa on arrival would be yur cheapest route... less processing fees involved.

Again, I am not not NOT seeking a six month visa. Just a multi-entry. But it does appear that I will have to renew my passport right now since it expires in five months and airlines do not like that. Had no idea.

you can expedite renewal..not a major issue.. just $$$

if there is time.. its worth the hassle if you can get the spousal renewed.. not sure if there is an expedite associated with it but it would still be cheaper than any other alternative...
