Hi

I love this site,,, it has helped answer so many questions!

I am a UK national engaged to a USC. We plan to file for K1 visa soon and as we already know my fiance is low income we need a co-sponsor.

I read just recently something that worried me, I read that some consulates dont accept co-sponsors for the I-134 on K1 visa, is this true and if so does anyone know if London does?

My USC has not found work because it is more important for us to be together and that means he stays with me for 5 months a year. Once in America he could potentially work, could a letter stated he intends to get employment help?

Also my potential co-sponsor may be relying on household income. Now I know that with I-864 for AOS you can also complete a household contract. Is there anything like this for the I-134?

Thankyou

yes London allows co-sponsors.

a letter stating he intends to work isnt needed and wont help anyway they are only interested in current income.

i dont believe a household contract is possible with the I-134 but im not certain about that

This is such an immature way to start a marriage. Be grown ups and think with your heads. What the heck are you going to live off of when you get the visa? Will the joint sponsor who can't even qualify on his/her own be feeding you and paying for your medical care. It ain't free in the US. You can't go on the dole...that's the purpose of proving support. Being broke sucks and causes marriages to fail. You won't be working for months after you get there. Send that boy home to get a job. Here's a heads up on the basic costs:

K1 = $1760 + £259.50

$340 (USCIS) I-129F

$350 (Embassy) Visa fee

£35 ACPO Police certificate

£210 (Knightsbridge Doctors) medical exam

£14.50 (DX Secure) Courier fee

$1070 (USCIS) Adjustment of Status/Work Authorization/Advance Parole

Well thankyou Dan and Jenni for the help! I guess I did not explain that I have savings in the UK to take to the USA which will help for the time that I am waiting for EAD and can pay health insurance before I even move. And he can feed me and put a roof over my head. Also when your fiance is in remission from cancer it does make you actually appreciate what you have and make you want to spend actual physical time together. I am aware I cant go on the dole and have no intentions of doing so, I have worked since I was 16 and do have potential jobs for when I get EAD and intend to carry on working ASAP.
