What vaccines are required for I-693?

Hi all, I am putting together my I-693. I had my MMR vaccines done about two years ago, but could not find the records. So I went to my physician to get the blood works done and tested immune for MMR, varicella and TD but I was told I was not immune to hepatatis. I was advised to take hepatitis shots which I am going ahead with, a series of three shots, one this week, one after a month and the last one in 3-6 months. I will be taking the vaccination report to my civil surgeon appointment next week.

My question is, how important is it to show the hepatitis vaccine on the I-693? If I have taken just the first shot, will the CS still be able to do my paperwork since waiting for more hepatitis shots will only delay the application?

What are the vaccines that one needs to show on the I-693?

Any inputs? Thanks and may the Force be with all ye good people.

Hepatitis is not usually considered 'medically appropriate' for most people.

Have a look at the table in the CDC Panel Physicians Instructions here

So basically you don't need Hepatitis shots for immigration (I'm assuming of course that you are over 18).

even for those over 18 years of age??

"For example, if the applicant is 35 years of age, then he or she is required to receive tetanus and diphtheria toxoids vaccine (Td) or tetanus and diphtheria toxoids and acellular pertussis vaccine (Tdap), MMR, and varicella (if no history of varicella disease). If the applicant had previously received a dose or doses of a required vaccine but had not completed the series, then the next required dose should be administered according to standard ACIP recommendations."

According to the CDC insructions for panel physicians Hep B is only done from birth to 18yrs.

As I said to OP - I'm assuming they are over 18 and therefore do not require Hep B shots.

I did not require any Hep shots (A or B) for my medical and here I am in the US.

Wrong.

I just completed my medical on 02/23/2012. My vaccination record indicated that I had only been vaccinated for MMR and Meningococcal.

My civil surgeon gave me vaccines for: TdaP and Influenza (flu season). I was also given the Tb Test and had blood taken. The rest of my vaccine sheet on Form I-693 was "x" under "Not Age Appropriate" and "VH" for Varicella.

FWIW, I am 27 and was born in the UK. I was not given the Hep B Vaccine and I have never had one.

Thanks all, I think I will first meet up with the CS and take the Hepatitis shots only if he says they are necessary. Don't want to be poked without any purpose.

Hmm.. maybe I am mistaken then. Hep B is listed on USCIS.gov list of required vaccinations - and according to my civil surgeon, it was a requirement. I got it years ago, so for me it wasn't really an issue. But in any case, I'd assume the doctor would know.

I just completed my medical with a civil surgeon. Hep A, Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Tetanus, Influenze (if in season), TB and RPR was required to complete it for our I-693. If you have your vaccination records that show you've already had any of these already done, you can get a copy or have them fax it to your civil surgeon. I had mine from Canada mailed to me and I gave them to my civil surgeon and completed the couple that I still needed.
