Hi

We are filling our I 130 form through the Chicago lock box, my question is, how do we know which service centre we will end up at? We are based in Melbourne (both USC and spouse) and will likely end up living in California.

Also does anyone have experience with the rumour that applications where both USC and spouse are filing from outside US are much quicker? Interested to hear your experiences..

Thanks

Nat

Where did you read that if both USC and spouse lives overseas gets processed faster? WOW. I WISH! :) we are planning to file this month as well and we both live in Kuwait.

I know that if you filed before august 15, 2011, your local US embassy will handle in sending the petitions out and in that way it is much faster because they do a lot of forms together rather than one by one and step by step.

Blessings to your petition! :)

2010 - met in Kuwait and got married at Washington using previous b1/b2 visa.

2010 - back in Kuwait as husband and wife.

2010 - denied to renew tourist visa, lady in the embassy said was not eligible!? Lies! Wth! Traumatized :-/

2012 - applied for tourist visa again, strengthened by the Lord, armed with lots of prayer, got a b1/b2 visa for a year!!! Yey! Christmas here we come!!!

2012 - decided to get ir1/cr1, I-130 started.

2013 - still in ir1/cr1 process.

2013 - EXPECTing our first born !!! <3

Dear Jesus,

Because your awesome and you love us more than we will ever know how to, please bless us and send our visa case to the fastest and bestest worker you got! But nonetheless, let Your will be done not ours. <3

I'm not sure how they determine your SC when the USC is living overseas. Usually it is determined by what state the USC lives in.

There have been reports here on VJ of petitions being approved quicker when the USC is living overseas. Not sure that there is an 'official' line about this but it does seem to be happening a bit here on VJ. Here is a thread on VJ where this has happened (and one post includes links to two more cases).

Good luck with your petition

Yep I have indeed been reading that NOA2's are quicker when both people are living overseas (a matter of weeks instead of months).
