Hi guys, i think, im posting this in the correct place here, if not then i am sorry, and im sure it will be moved appropriatley.

Anyway, i am just curious as to what i have to declare on my next visit to my girlfriend. The situation is that i am visiting her at the end of March, obviously i expect to be asked at customs about the purpose of my visit. This time it is different to the rest of my visits, as i plan on proposing to her!!!! (im nervous haha, but in a good way :) excited!!) Anyway, i dont want to mess up anything for my future by not being fully honest here. So when i am asked at the immigration stand about the purpose of my visit do i have to declare that i am planning on proposing? We are definitely not getting married yet, but i can see it from their point of view that its a risk that i am entering with a purpose of getting married.

So long story short.... Do i tell the officer that i am going to propose to my Girlfriend, or do i just keep it simple and give my usual reply of "visiting my girlfriend for a few weeks". I dont want to risk anything for our future.

Thanks guys, im probably worrying over something and nothing, but i would rather be safe than sorry about these things.

How sweet! (L)

Just be honest. Don't lie. I don't think saying "I'm going to propose to my girlfriend" is going to be an issue, especially if you have proof you're going back home and you're going to do things the legal and right way.

You don't have to tell anyone you are going to propose to your girlfriend. No need to volunteer additional information unless directly asked for.

If they ask, "Who are you visiting?"

- I'm visiting my girlfriend.

"Business or vacation?"

- Vacation.

"What is the purpose of your travel to the United States?"

- I'm visiting my girlfriend.

Unless, they ask you directly if you have any plan to propose soon, then you tell them the truth.

I just came to the US a week ago, they didn't even ask me who I was visiting and why, just how long I was going to stay.
