Excuse me but the are not from India, Indians come from India and as you were only too overjoyed to point out the First Peoples are descendants of Europeans not Asians. You seem to tergiversate, you talk about wrongs to be righted but then you dismiss any semblance of remorse or culpability for the plight of the First Peoples. How paradoxically curious.

Theft is theft, no matter how you try to misrepresent the broken treaties and agreements that fostered it.

I am only trying to put this endless mythology to rest, to give the subject more than one view point.

Throughout their history in the continent Indian tribes battled each other for territory, possessions and women.

They commonly took and made slaves of their captives.

I am not aware of any Indian tribe "righting wrongs" done to each other.

Why is it only the Pale-face has to right wrongs?

What mythology would that be? We like to believe that we are more civilized than those Native tribes (Indians come from India) of years ago. We are in current possession of the land and since we continue to use the land it is only fair to make redress. The so-called Pale-face has a moral obligation to do so or should our society be held to the same standards as those Native tribes, is slavery still legal? Let's return EVERYTHING to the Natives and then just butcher then outright is that what you're suggesting?

Dude,

that may be the case in Alaska (I accept that you know better than me about the situation in Alaska), but that is not the case across the US.

Ya they have it real bad up here. Free medical, dental, and optical, free housing, food, subsistence rights, jobs where they get paid very well for just showing up and breathing, free schools, free college, free medical centers, no interest loans, annual native corporation dividend checks, etc...

CR-1 Timeline

March'07 NOA1 date, case transferred to CSC

June'07 NOA2 per USCIS website!

Waiver I-751 timeline

July'09 Check cashed.

Jan'10 10 year GC received.

So native Americans in the lower 48 don't get a break on college, medical/dental/optical (BIA card/#), minority hire laws, minority no interest small business loans, a break on home loans, etc.. ? So when did all that change?

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

So we should just let'em die on the reservation, is that? Let's throw them off of there as well. It must be glamourous being a Native, with all those fantastic programs, they must be just rolling in dough. The streets of the Reservations must be paved with gold and they must all live in mansions. wacko.gifwacko.gifwacko.gif

LOL Die on the rez eh? How about they get off the res and join the 21st century with the rest of America? I don't get any special government handouts because of my race or who my great grandparents were... do you?

You only have to be 1/8 native American in order to get a free ride in this country.

My cousin is 1/2 Klamath/Modoc, which entitled her to free prenatal care at a supposed women's clinic so woefully underfunded and useless that they're only able to provide care for women through their 4th month of pregnancy. But pregnancies are supposed to go on for 9 months, and require prenatal care for that long too. Oh, and she had some of that great dental care from them too- her later dentist asked if she'd had her prior work done in the Third World. Whoop de doo, livin large indeed.

I don't get any free prenatal care nor do I get any free dental work. I have to pay in US currency for that kind of stuff.

The real question is whether we live by their moral and legal codes, or the ones we claim, in our dealings with them!

For all intents and purposes she didn't either.

Exactly. That's why billions of US tax dollars go to the BIA and it's pseudo health care program every year. If I was right, none of my tax dollars would be used for that. I'm not a rich man.

How about they have the same opportunities as everyone else? How about they get jobs off the res with the skills that they were never given a chance to learn? How about being raised in a environment where they aren't exposed to drug and alcohol at an early age? How about they have parents who aren't underage or have no chance or reasonable expectations to better themselves or their families? How about that? Skip, it's very easy to pass snap judgments without thinking about what you're saying first.

Are you poor? If you are, then get government assistance or bust your azz like you keep telling the First Peoples to do.

I usually agree with most of your post on this forum Mummsie, but this time you bit off more than you can chew. It's the native culture...the culture they choose to live by...the culture they shove down thier kids throats that's screwing them.

Free training for any trade...that's what they receive. It's a h*ll of a lot more than I got. Drugs, booze...who isn't exposed to that kind of stuff these days? You think it's an Indian/Eskimo only problem? It's called "freedom of to choose". You can choose to be a loser, or you can choose to take advantage of the free schooling the government offers and do something with their life. That's a h*ll of a lot more than most get. I didn't get free schooling...I had to pay for mine up until I joined the apprenticeship.

Blame that native culture for holding them back, not the white man. It's the 21st century and it's time they learned to join it instead of fighting it.

You want a list of free government handouts the natives up here get? I can fill a couple of post on here with that list.
