There is a typo on my I 601 I was told to white it out and write the correct date on it with black ink.... Can I do that? Has anyone done it?

I wouldn't even try it. I blacked out something on an acknowledgment of paternity form for my daughter and they refuse to process it. Now I have to spend a day of my vacation in ES to see my husband that I haven't seen in 9 months going to the embassy to have the damn form notarized by someone who speaks english for $50.

NEVER, ever use white-out on any official form. However, you may cross-out with a pen (so they see what you are crossing out) and above or beside, make your correction. AND don't forget to initial the correction.

I would never black out or white out something this important. If I had no other choice I would cross it out so they can see what the error is then put the correction above it some how. That would be a last resort kind of thing.

Dam it I'm stuck my lawyers receptionist told me to white it out and write the right date but am very scared to do so ..... Should I wait till I get there and let them catch it and see if the officer can correct it?
