Thanks everyone, once again i do apologize if i offended anyone. I understand this is a very touchy subject, and everyone will have different opinions. We are doing what is right and confortable with our families. i cannot force a Dam Hoi just to impress the CO. I will be in Viet Nam for 2 months, so i hope i could be there with her for interview (or at least sit outside, haha). My whole family is coming with me to Viet Nam for this trip to do the formal engagement/traditional wedding together. I do have the receipt for the banquet so we will bring it just in case they ask for. The reasons that we do this after submit the K1 are timing and money. I have been working for the past 5 years and trying to pay off everything prior to start our family(student loans, car, both wedding here and engagment/traditional wedding there, rings, etc). I know that we will have to live with my income alone for a while until my SO can find a job. I am trying to be financially responsible so i could give my SO the best start as much as possible. my point here is CO will review every evidences to make the right decision. I only think if they reject someone base solely on Dam Hoi alone is not right and fair. Everyone have a different lifestyle and cicumstance. So if the CO only judges someone base on one single point of view is not right. We are real to each other, so we do not afraid of any questions they will ask about us.

Brian, the sworn statements I think, don't hold much weight, just about anything can be bought for a price in Vietnam,\

Yes, but if you look at it from another angle the "Dam Hoi" would be the EASIEST thing to fake !! I can run into any rental hall on a "lucky day" and snap a few photos of an existing Dam Hoi, voilà instant evidence. Also it's a piece of cake to rent a pair of Ao Dais for a few bucks and snap some photos.

I made it clear that sworn statements are not "gold standard" evidence, but the CO dismissing them as nothing is not likely. Any type of evidence is generally considered as weak when it stands alone. Evidence should be judged as a whole, with different pieces of evidence corroborating the other. In this context the sworn statement give strength to the other evidence and our relationship timeline. Also, In my example supplementary evidence is being submitted to address and mitigate a particular red flag, so it has an additional use beyond just proving the relationship

.

Those attempting to commit fraud tend to be long on talk, and short on hard evidence of various sources and types. Corroborating evidence of multiple types ALWAYS strengthens the case.
