Hi Saylin,

Just want to double check that DS-3032 must be sent from the Beneficiary's email account, correct?

if so then maybe it's a good idea to edit or add that in the FAQ....hmmm

What do I do after my case number is assigned?

Get the IIN from an operator (ask for the 'Invoice Identification Number', not IIN). Give over the email addresses of the beneficiary and petitioner. Email the DS-3032 following the template linked above.

When can I email the DS-3032?

Right after you get your case number. There's a chance it could get rejected (because they got to your email before they're ready to take documents), but if that's the case, just re-send it. On the flip side, there's also a chance it could get accepted and you wouldn't have wasted any time.

Note: if doing online forms (check link above for eligibility), then fill out the DS-261 found online at the above link. Do NOT send the DS-3032.

I got an email from NVC that contains a bar-coded DS-3032 (along with other information). Do I re-send the DS-3032?

NO. Do NOT email another DS-3032. NVC automatically generates these emails and do not care if you've already sent in a DS-3032 or not; they include a DS-3032 anyways. Only if NVC responds to your first DS-3032 with a rejection do you send another one.

-------------------------------------------------------

Summary of NVC process:

- get case number and IIN, give email addresses over

- email the DS-3032

- pay the AOS bill, once it's invoiced

- once the bill appears as PAID, mail the AOS package

- pay the IV bill, once it's invoiced

- once the bill appears as PAID, mail the IV package

- respond to any checklists, if applicable

- get case complete

- get interview date scheduled

That which is possible is not necessarily likely.

Of course, it could happen.....

For certain values of "must". There have been cases where it was sent from the petitioners account with no ill effects. After all, how would they really know the difference? For instance, one of my wife's email accounts is on a US domain. How would they know the difference between hers and mine on the same domain? I doubt they'd be mining the headers.

That said, I did have her send it from hers. Take no chances.

On the subject of evidence and pet peves....

One thing I must admit that annoys me to no end, while admitting that I'm heavily biased, is the fact that anyone from a VWP country and just hop on a plane and come over anytime they like. I admit that annoys me mainly because at the same time the odds of Sue getting a visitor's visa (even before we got married) was practically zero. Now that we are married there is no way in hell they'd let her come for a visit. Yet if she was from Singapore, not that different than being from China in socio-economic ways, she could just hop on a plane and fly over.

As a result we often are required to have hundreds of pages of evidence and are still regularly denied on the flimsiest excuses. Is there fraud? Absolutely. Do they paint with a ten mile wide brush because of it? Without a doubt.

I feel really bad for people in our situation who don't know about front loading and such. They're almost certainly going to get to that interview and after waiting months and months and slogging through this process, be summarily denied and left wondering "Now what do we do?" Such a fear keeps me up at night frequently. It's the reason we practice the interview nearly every day. All so we can convince a relatively disinterested and highly untrusting VO in a two or three minute interview that we really do love each other. All because her passport says "China" and not "Singapore", "Brunei", or "Slovakia"

Sorry... just ranting... always scared our evidence will not make it to GUZ or they won't bother to read it or the VO burned themselves with their coffee and decide to take it out on Sue...:angry::(

Poutine might look odd, but it's good. Hence, it's a Montreal delicacy.

And yeah, Canadians are rarely asked for evidence at the time of the interview. Despite this, I still suggest you bring as much as you can. Just to be safe.

So you don't think that a scratched wedding ring will cut it? :)

It was interesting reading your posts about all the evidence you supplied at outset as nowhere on the government site does it say to provide a s**t load of evidence. In fact the instructions for the I-130 just say to submit one or more of the following types of evidence. So I can completely see that people who just follow the instructions could end up being denied.

But we could still be denied entry

Yeah, it could happen. And though this is based on anecdotal evidence, such as that is, it could happen in the same way you could be struck by lightening. It happens, but it is very rare. If nothing else, look at it from the perspective of the boarder control person sitting in that little booth. The person in front of them as flown a long way and doesn't immediately look like a threat of any kind, so they are infinitely more likely to let "you" in than an interviewer to whom you have to prove a complex case in 30 seconds to 3 minutes.

I suspect that happens fairly frequently with people who know nothing of sites like this. They submit a few photos and maybe a chat transcript or two along with the base forms. If they're coming from Canada, France, the UK, or other VWP countries they'll probably be fine. If they follow those base instructions and are coming from China or other non-first tier country, a denial is practically assured. Of course, none of this applies to DCF cases.

Hi Saylin,

Just want to double check that DS-3032 must be sent from the Beneficiary's email account, correct?

if so then maybe it's a good idea to edit or add that in the FAQ....hmmm

Well, in one of the guides on the first post, it says that forms starting with 'I' (such as the I-130, I-864) are filled out by the petitioner, while the forms starting with 'DS' (DS-3032, DS-230) are filled out by the beneficiary. So, taking that statement, it would only make sense to send it from the beneficiary's account.

But, I edited the FAQ anyways to add the point. Especially since some people don't seem to read the guides to know the above information laughing.gif

I know I have no patience but I am wondering if it is possible that if hubby sent the DS3032 via email today for them to accept it today and open the IV bill payment today?

Very unlikely. NVC gets hundreds of emails a day. They're usually always at least a day behind.

On a more positive note... we received and paid our IV bill!  :dancing: :dancing: :dancing:

Yay, grats! kicking.gif

If you're going to remove your lawyer, definitely inform NVC as soon as you get your case number, because they're going to email correspondence to him as well as the invoices.

And please, go read the first two posts in this thread. The phone number is included in the first post.

So you don't think that a scratched wedding ring will cut it? :)

Anyone can get a banged up wedding ring :P So not REAL evidence, but I know what you mean.

Sorry about that :(

More Canadians get denied than you probably think. Once you get married to an American, or even have a boyfriend, it's much tougher to get through the US border. And if you're unprepared with no strong ties to Canada, then they'll just deny you. And sometimes even when you do have proof, they can still deny you. The second time I got denied, I was just going to visit my husband for either a week or two, had a return ticket and everything, but the officer kept saying I had immigration intent and couldn't let me in until I had my visa crying.gif He warned me that if I tried going through the border again that I could get banned blink.gif Worst day in my entire life.

But, that's in the past. Hopefully when I fly back to Canada this June, I won't have the same problems when I return laughing.gif And if I ever see that border officer again, I'm going to be very tempted to punch him in the face devil.gif
