Just of curiosity. I got my DS-3032 accepted today but today when logging into the payment portal the section for IV Bill where the Aplicant Name goes, it doesn't have anything. That is, no information whatsoever has been input into that section. Is that Normal? :blink:

I meant to say DS-3032 accepted yesterday. Sorry! too early need some coffee this morning :P

Hi Saylin,

Thanks for posting all the wonderful information. And for other VJ veterans, hello, I posted earlier but it got lost somewhere. I received my NOA #2 hardcopy by 2/28/2012. I've been calling NVC everyday; as of yesterday, the file is in the office but still not inputed into the computer. I just sent a request for expedite service. After looking at many timelines....a few with the same NOA #2 and received by NVC date, they already received their NVC case number and IIN, paid and sent off their documents. What is going on? The only answer I've been getting is there are many petitions now which explains the delay, and I can't speak to a supervisor. It is pretty upsetting how it took 2 weeks from USCIS CA service center to NVC center in the east coast. At most, it should take 5 days.

I do have some questions about the green card, so forgive me for these innocuous questions. Oh, and I am living in Japan with my husband during this whole process, and moving back to USA when he receives his green card.

1. After receiving greencard, is it okay to travel around Asia for a week before going back to USA?

2. We've been married for less than 2 years..which we qualify for conditional status....is there any way around that so we can automatically receive 10 years instead? We went out for 10 years before deciding to get hitched.

You have to realize that when NVC receives your case, it sits on a flat surface until its turn to be input into the system comes. They probably receive hundreds of cases every day. They have to scan them all individually and assign a case a number at that time. It's not only postal delay. 2 weeks is actually not particularly long, it took 36 days for me (holiday season).

1. Your husband is not going to receive a green card in Japan, he will receive a visa in his passport. The visa should be valid for 6 months, so it doesn't matter where you travel first as long as he enters the US before the visa expires.

2. Well no. Otherwise, everybody would manage to get a 10-year card immediately, don't you think? They don't care how long you dated, they only care how long you were married.

05/14/24: approved at interview, same-day oath ceremony in San Francisco 🥳 🇺🇸

 

Passport

06/10/24: application submitted at post office for passport book and card, paid for expedited processing and shipping

06/24/24: received email notification that passport was approved, then shipped with tracking number

I did the same thing when I was buying some furniture, I had to send her some pix. Sad enough she wasn't with me when they were delivering it, it was hard. :(

Plane ticket is over 1000USD...

There are two factors making it expensive.. the first is it is a Chrysler Crossfire so nothing is cheap for that car. The cost of new tires and at least one new wheel exceeds the cost of the car payment for the new car. And... well I need a bigger car anyway.

a Van LOL? OMG it's funny how mentality changes once a guy is married.

plane ticket for her will cost me 900-1200 bucks, one way trip. and it does look like it'll be around $1200 based on high season period.

I'd emailed the DS-3032 on the 8th, but when my husband called up yesterday, he was informed that they haven't received the DS-3032. I have e-mailed it a second time, and hopefully this will go through.

I just received mine yesterday and it was sent on the 6th, so yours has not been processed yet. What the operator means by "not having received one" is that it doesn't show on his/her screen but it doesn't me they don't have. Remember that who answers these DS-3032s in the NVC Written Correspondence Unit which is a separate division.
