One more sorry! Now I am paranoid about getting it all right. When it says most recent year, I submitted transcripts and w'2 for 2008, 2009, 2010. Is it ok to put down 2010 as most recent?

If you haven't filed the 2011 taxes, then 2010 is your most recent tax year.

Yes, in your case (since 2011 isn't filed yet, nor is it technically required yet), 2010 would be your recent year, with 2008 and 2009 being the other two last years.

DS-230 Part II not signed and dated just filled out. One more thing, I don't remember if it was in March or February NVC thread, someone from India got checklist for their Marriage certificate because they didn't send the correct one (Or they needed to send a different one, I really don't remember exactly). Just make sure of that. Other wise, you NAILED it. Now you can drink your masala chai with confidence.

This is why I suggest looking at country-specific documents before sending anything out. There's a link in the first post.

Thank you TangoBravo & Saylin !!! :)

Also, regarding tax transcripts: when ordering form IRS online.

there are 2 diff transcripts.

Q's: NVC wants the Tax Return Transcript, correct? not the "Tax account Transcript"

Tax Return Transcript

A tax return transcript shows most line items from your tax return (Form 1040, 1040A, or 1040EZ) as it was originally filed, including any accompanying forms and schedules. It does not reflect any changes you, your representative, or the IRS made after the return was filed. In many cases, a return transcript will meet the requirements of lending institutions such as those offering mortgages and for applying for student loans.

Tax Account Transcript

A tax account transcript shows any payments and any later adjustments either you or the IRS made after the tax return was filed. This transcript shows basic data, including marital status, type of return filed, adjusted gross income and taxable income.

-Cover letter for both, the one you downloaded from the website when you paid.

-DS-230 Part II not signed and dated just filled out.

-One more thing, I don't remember if it was in March or February NVC thread, someone from India got checklist for their Marriage certificate because they didn't send the correct one (Or they needed to send a different one, I really don't remember exactly). Just make sure of that.

-Ask the bank officer for what they call it a reference letter ( then they will ask for who you'll be petitioning).

Other wise, you NAILED it. Now you can drink your masala chai with confidence.

Ok, for both packages, make sure the bar-coded cover sheet is the FIRST page in the packages, not second.

For the AOS package:

-either include the originals or the copies of the tax transcripts, not both

-for the pay stubs, the same thing, either include the originals or copies (I'd suggest copies)

-if you include a bank statement, just include a copy, no need for both

For the IV package:

-not sure if you just forgot to mention it, but include part 2 of the DS-230! (unsigned and undated of course)

Other than those few things, looks good!

I know the Bureau en Gros (Staples, but Quebec version laughing.gif) in the town I used to live in had scanners. Not sure if they were in color, but always worth a try.

Perhaps a library or even a school might have color scanners too (in case Staples doesn't work out).

OO a library - good call! I know Staples will probably have scanners which means they should be able to email me the document...worst case, I buy a disc from them. big deal, those will be cheap :)

That's what I figured. Not sure about the color scanners but will check tomorrow (yay sick day! Means more chances to call NVC lol :) ). You figure Staples? There's a staples right near where I work...will go there first!

If Staples can't do it, ask friends or family if they have a color scanner. All in one printers are a dime a dozen now a days, someone is bound to have one. Hubby asked one of his friends to work to use his and the guy said "oh I have a spare one in the closet, you can have it!" Now he doesn't have to scan the rest of the stuff from work :)

If that all fails, Future Shop usually has cheap all in one printers. If you go that route, make sure it comes with a USB cable some don't.

Tax return. but if you send out 1040s + W2s, it should be enough. it is either OR. but I would send both if you think you can have'em fast enough.

Just got off the phone with NVC. They confirmed that the case is complete and awaiting interview scheduling. They apologized that it won't be scheduled for March (no kidding..) and said they're scheduling interviews for April this week. They said to call back next week...

Like hell... I'll call back later today and again tomorrow... and the next day.. and the next day....

Hey ! More Movement !!

Don't Forget - there's that hidden scheduling queue for EP that apparently NONE of the NVC TeleOperators are aware [of].

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I'm not sure how fancy their scanners are, but my husband's all-in-one has a USB port on the front, so whenever I have to scan anything, I put it on a USB stick.

Nope, 1040 and W2s are TWO different things.

1040 = tax return filed by residents/citizens, long form where you input numbers

W2s = given by employers showing how much you've made, deductions, etc

I know the Bureau en Gros (Staples, but Quebec version laughing.gif) in the town I used to live in had scanners. Not sure if they were in color, but always worth a try.

Perhaps a library or even a school might have color scanners too (in case Staples doesn't work out).

Ohh ok, good to know. But it's still ok to get the answer for question #25 (AOS) from the w'2s. Where it says wages, tips also known as line 1. Correct? Saylin you are Godsent!

The operators will be able to see if an interview date is scheduled.

My case:

-Called on a Thursday (both at NVC and DOS), no interview date scheduled

-Called the next day on a Friday, interview date scheduled, both operators (at NVC and DOS) were able to tell me the date

-Received the interview letter at 6am on Saturday
