I'm glad to hear this, I think it was a wise decision. From what you explained, I really doubt about the previous doctor's ethical standards. Hopefully, the new doctor will result more helpful for you and will provide you with the necessary letter.

Good luck.

I do not know what is wrong with doctors in the US. my wife has 3 friends living in NJ just like her and doctor predicted in the past that their babies were coming out handicaped. On the delivery, the baby is normal. I got other friends that are telling me the same thing. This is nonsense, this stressing out the mother. are their materials having problems? i do not understand that

Bad news, so I got a checklist for what Saylin thought I would get it for. I can;t believe I messed up. So angry :bonk: I left line 25 (the part where it says tax year and total income) blank because I did not think I had to fill this out if I sent transcripts. :bonk:

I don't know where to get this info from? My w'2? My sponsor's w2's? Can it come from the IRS transcripts? It asks for total income, will this be line 1 on the w'2?? Please help! I'm at work but I am trying to have these ready to mail out on my lunch break! Also, do I check off both squares on question 25? I want to make sure I do this right and that it gets to NVC tomorrow.

Also, I am assuming I should fill out the entire I864, I864a again correct? Not just the part I have a checklist for right?

Saylin, Help!! and Thanks!

I actually did the same thing on my I-864EZ. What you're looking for is the line on the transcript that says "Wages, Salaries, Tips, ETC". On a W-2 It should say something similar.

Yes, you'll send in another entire form. Whether you fill out the entire thing or not depends on how you did it in the first place. In my case, I just edited the page in question and rebuilt the master PDF that made up my AOS package. Of course, the only thing that had to be handwritten on my I-864EZ was the signature and that is on a different page. :D

You can use the numbers on your tax transcripts to get the amounts for question 25.

-If a 1040 was filed, use the 'total income' line.

-If a 1040EZ was filed, use the "adjusted gross income" line.

And yes, if you're sending in the last 3 years of tax info, then check both boxes on that question.

And yes, don't just fill in question 25. Re-print the I-864 already filled out (that I hope you still have on a computer, saved), and then simply fill in question 25.

Include these new filled out I-864 and I-864A (make sure they're both signed and dated!), the bar-coded cover sheet from the checklist, and I believe you also have to include the checklist (but not sure, read what it says).

On the I-130, we used my husband's parents address because we didn't yet know where we would live. However by the time we got our NVC case number, my husband had just moved back to the US to start a new job (post-doc position), so we were able to give his temporary address in California on all the forms.

Then after we got a case complete, he moved into the house he rented for us, and we informed the NVC of the address change. I'll also bring new forms with the new address to the interview.

You can give your parent's address for the time being, and change it later on when you know where you'll live.

One thing you need is to prove your intention to relocate to the US at the time of the interview. Do you have evidence that you're gonna move back soon? A letter saying you were accepted in the PhD program maybe?

Thanks once again, Laure&Colin!!

I'm working on the re-establishing residency, I do have my bank and credit card account still in USA, and I file taxes every year. Plus with hopefully a PhD acceptance (with funding), I think I'll be okay. I only have to show that at the interview, right? Not before.

I do have one more question, that I'm hoping anyone can help with:

In the I-864, I'm stumbling on the 'current individual annual income.' I receive a base pay, but then I also receive free housing. I do report a monetary value for the housing on my tax returns, which makes my gross annual income much different from my annual pay. On the I-864, should I report my income as the estimated value for housing, plus annual pay, or should I report only the annual pay? This is income earned abroad, so in the long run, it doesn't seem to count anyway, as they won't accept me as a sponsor unless I am earning income in the USA.

Many thanks for any help!!

Keep in mind, to send the IV package, the IV bill has to appear as PAID in the payment portal, and to show PAID, you have to pay the bill, and to pay it, it has to be invoiced, and to be invoiced, the DS-3032 has to be accepted. Thus, no, the DS-3032 won't be sent with the IV package.

If you email the DS-3032, that's sufficient. No need to repeat yourself and mail the same form that's already been accepted.

Okay Saylin and the rest of NVC crew!

Can ya'll verify contents of my AOS & IV packages?

9) MAYBE a Bank balance Statement/signed by BOA manager? = [Original & a Color copy]

IV package

Is a 1040 the same thing as a W2? Sorry...

I asked the operator and she told me to send with the cover sheet, and that I did not have to wait for anything else from them so I am assuming I don't have to wait for a checklist.

Actually I did not save it since it wont let me save PDF files, but I had another one filled out so I will copy the info from that one. And yes sign and date. I will not let today go by without sending this out.

-One more thing, I don't remember if it was in March or February NVC thread, someone from India got checklist for their Marriage certificate because they didn't send the correct one (Or they needed to send a different one, I really don't remember exactly). Just make sure of that.

-Ask the bank officer for what they call it a reference letter ( then they will ask for who you'll be petitioning).

Other wise, you NAILED it. Now you can drink your masala chai with confidence.

Okay Saylin and the rest of NVC crew!

Can ya'll verify contents of my AOS & IV packages?

Ok, for both packages, make sure the bar-coded cover sheet is the FIRST page in the packages, not second.

For the AOS package:

-either include the originals or the copies of the tax transcripts, not both

-for the pay stubs, the same thing, either include the originals or copies (I'd suggest copies)

-if you include a bank statement, just include a copy, no need for both

For the IV package:

-not sure if you just forgot to mention it, but include part 2 of the DS-230! (unsigned and undated of course)

Other than those few things, looks good!

Nope, 1040 and W2s are TWO different things.

1040 = tax return filed by residents/citizens, long form where you input numbers

W2s = given by employers showing how much you've made, deductions, etc

That's what I figured. Not sure about the color scanners but will check tomorrow (yay sick day! Means more chances to call NVC lol :) ). You figure Staples? There's a staples right near where I work...will go there first!

I know the Bureau en Gros (Staples, but Quebec version laughing.gif) in the town I used to live in had scanners. Not sure if they were in color, but always worth a try.

Perhaps a library or even a school might have color scanners too (in case Staples doesn't work out).
