No, of the I-864 form. Smart phones have cameras of the same quality as many (cheaper) full sized digital cameras. The app just converts the photo to a clearer, more "scanned" looking image, and there are tons of how-tos and apps that pop up if you google "scan documents with your iphone." I did it because it was the weekend, so I wasn't going to go into work to scan the document, and I didn't trust a copy shop with all of my personal information.

Now, I don't know if it would work for NVC on something more complicated like a marriage certificate, but like I said, for the straight up, black and white forms, they accepted it.

Suprisingly, I was looking for a similar app for my boatanchor Windows 6.0 phone today - and I found one here - http://mobile.brothersoft.com/scanr-business-center-132.html

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Finally got my Case # from NVC on Friday. However, the gentleman advised me NOT to submit my online application just yet. He said to wait for my e-mailed invoice instead...

Should I go ahead and send this out over the weekend so that they have it ready first thing Monday morning, or is there a chance it might get rejected because they only just got my case # Friday afternoon?

(P.S. my case # started with MEP so I have to send in DS-260 + DS-261)

Forgot to specify in last post - my operator gave me my Case #, Invoice ID #, and Beneficiary ID #.

Is there any risk at trying to pay my Fees now over the weekend - or will this complicate things and waste more time?

I was surprised the operator was so willing to give out all this information. =)

You won't be able to pay the fees until they are invoiced, and nothing happens at the NVC over the weekend. Have to wait a bit more!

Hey guys,

I'm trying to prepare the AOS package and currently working on I-864.

Need help with the below questions:

Q's # 9: Do you enter your spouse here also because I already added in #2? The Q's #9 says "I am sponsoring the following family members immigrating at the same time or within six months of the principal immigrant name in Part 2 above. Do not include any relative listed on a separate visa petition."

Q's # 21: It says to not count anyone twice, so do you enter 0 for (#c)"If you are currently married, enter "1" for your spouse"? because i already entered "1" for (#a) "Enter the number you entered on line 10."

Q's #23 and #24: It's asking "My current individual annual income is"

Do i put the amount listed in my 2011 W2 under Gross Pay/(#1) Wages, Tips, and other comp."

Thank you ! :)

I had the same reason when I was at NVC last year. I wanted us to be together for our first year anniversary on May 21. It did indeed happen :)

Well, that's impressive. I know the cameras are good on smart phones these days (mine's an 8MP), but I just figured that scanners are more stable (no shaky hands) and are more up-close to the document. But hey, whatever works laughing.gif

OMG Thank you and Alizon both for the fantastic advice...

The marriage cert is both long and wide but the width was more the problem...But I had my son download the app that Alizon mentioned and even with just the trial version it is excellent and worked great..

Thank you both it has saved our weekend!!

This weekend my wife will fill out her I864 and send it in with her tax stuff, and I have my lf birth cert, marriage cert, and police clearance all ready to go, just working on the passport photos using your wiki tips!!

Will have this stuff on in for monday morning..Then just have to wait and see how long it will take to clear.

Hoping for and April or May interview date, and then be outta here by Mid june as soon as the school year is done.

No, you do not count your spouse on c. because you already counted him on a. as the intended immigrant.

Your current income is what you make right now. Take your weekly (or bi weekly) pay times it by four (or by two), then times it by 12 and that will be your 2012 annual income. Be sure to include your recent pay stubs as evidence!

You put your 2011 income where it asks for the past three years of income tax returns.

If you are not sponsoring anyone else like a child of the immigrant, you do not put anything in question 9.

Dear Sir/Madam:

Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC).

We received the principal applicant's DS-3032 (Choice of Address and Agent) form designating an address and agent. Instructions for paying the immigrant visa application processing fee and all future correspondence will be sent to the agent at the address selected on the DS-3032.

For more information regarding the immigrant visa application fee or for answers to frequently asked questions, please visit the following website:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3904.html

If a period of one year passes from the last date of contact with the NVC (by telephone, mail, or email), all submitted fees and documents will expire. If this occurs, your fees will need to be repaid and documents will need to be resubmitted in order to continue the immigration process.

I received this in the beneficiary's email. So this say tht the petitioner will receive instructions in the EMAIL or my house address- So I guess by Monday or Tuesday the payment portal should have the IV fee ready to be paid Right now it is empty.

Grats on getting your case number yesterday!

First off, since you just got your case number yesterday, it is highly UNLIKELY that your AOS has been invoiced. You're certainly welcome to logging into the payment portal. If it is invoiced (which I'm thinking 99% chance it's not), then you can pay it.

For the DS-260, you can only send it after the IV bill has been invoiced and appears as PAID. You are unable to start it until then. Not because I suggest it, but because the website will not let you.

For the DS-261, it can be found on the same site as the DS-260. But, for me, it took one business day for me to be able to sign into that portal. If you can sign in and the DS-261 is available, then by all means, fill it in and submit it!

Hi all....newbie to this discussion...lol....will be hovering....reading....soaking in the info!

Welcome! Keep in mind, going through Syria, you're REQUIRED to do online forms and EP!

1. No, re-read the question. It's talking about ADDITIONAL family members. You've already mentioned the PRIMARY APPLICANT (your spouse) above.

2. Since you already counted your wife above, put 0 for c.

3. Current income is not 2011 amounts, it's 2012. Is the current year not 2012? Perhaps you're a year behind :P
