Make sure you call soon. If I remember correctly, they close at 5pm EST, so they'll be closing in an hour.

The number is at the bottom of the first post. When you get through, they won't ask for a case number at first (unless they've changed it since last year). You describe what you want first then they ask for your case number. Just tell them: "My case was recently completed at NVC for a CR-1 visa. I was wondering if an interview date has been assigned yet for the consulate/embassy in Morocco." Then they'll ask you for your case number and then go off to look in their system. A hint: if they start asking for more information (birth dates, names, etc), then it's a very good sign your interview has been assigned! That's what happened to me anyways. They never asked for any information besides the case number. But on the day that my interview date was assigned, they asked me to repeat my case number, asked for the petitioner's name and beneficiary's name. They might have asked for the birth date as well, but I honestly can't remember; I was too excited! My heart was thumping as they had never asked for that info before!

I imagine since I'm going to GUZ none of this applies to me :(

I don't see why it wouldn't. DOS has access to information that NVC and the consulate/embassy has. Why wouldn't they be able to help you?

Doesn't GUZ assign their own interview dates?

Either way, since we both just got those emails a few hours ago, would DOS really have anything for us before Monday (next business day)?

So does Montreal. The consulates are still part of the DOS.

DOS stands for Department of State?

and why does our case need to go to DOS after NVC?

I thought after NVC, it goes straight to the US Embassy and we just get Interview dates/infos from NVC or US Embassy?

Even if GUZ assigns the dates (unlike most consulates/embassies where NVC does this), DOS would still be able to tell you as they have access to the consulate/embassy's databases. True, they might not have anything as you just got a case complete, but hey, orient yourself with their system ;)

DOS == Department of State

The DOS runs the embassies. So what you said is correct, it goes to the Embassies. The DOS number is just another way of getting information after clearing the NVC stage.

The case is NOT sent to DOS. After case complete, it stays at NVC until an interview date has been assigned. Once a date has been assigned, it then gets shipped to the foreign country. DOS is just a place to CALL as they have access to your case as well as NVC.

Just be careful with DOS times as they're open much less than NVC.
