She was just a bit nervous about doing it since she didn't really understand the process (and she's a worrier like her daughter  ), so I'd like to just ease her mind if at all possible and make it so she doesn't have to alert the government every time she moves. I'll try to remember to ask and see what happens...

My 2010 income was above the cutoff as well. I picked having a cosponsor because I'm only barely over and (mostly) because my funding has an official end date, i.e. I'm guaranteed this level of income only through June 2013. Not that I submitted my funding letter showing them that, but if questions were asked about where my income comes from, that's what I would have to tell them.

Well, it wouldn't hurt to try! And to remind yourself (in case your nerves completely take over), write out a sticky note NOW, and put it on your binder/folder/whatever you're using to transport your documents.

And only tell them of your end date if they SPECIFICALLY ask this. If they just ask what you do, just reply what you do. If they ask how much you make, just reply with how much you make. Don't offer information unless specifically asked. The shorter, more prompt answers, the faster and easier the interview will be ;)

Who knows, they might not even ask at all about your job. I was only asked two questions, where my husband lived in the US and how we met. Super easy :D

Nope. I'll continue to nag him via skype and texts until he does. It took him two months to go to a registry office in Calgary to get our marriage certificate ordered from Edmonton. I should have nagged sooner.

It's not like we are in a huge hurry. We don't want to POE until after June 15th and our second anniversary. But I'd still like to get the ball going.

Well, if you're in no rush, then no need to nag THAT much, but yeah, still, I'm sure you want to get this over with.

Will do! I've got those short, prompt answers down pat from frequent border crossings. :)

Please refer to the FAQ about sending the two packages together yes.gif

I know but the FAQ says that there are "pros and cons" of sending them together or separate, and since my crystal ball doesn't seem to be working today that's why I'm asking the question. What are the pros and cons of sending the AOS and the IV packets at the same time to NVC?

Citizenship

Pro:

-saving money on postage/envelope (only one package being sent, not two)

Con:

-NVC doesn't get the AOS package right away to start reviewing (if there's an error, then time is wasted since AOS was sent with the IV)

They go to two different departments, whoever opens the package is just going to send it to the other department. But why risk it getting "lost" or "misplace" that way. Just send it express to the address it's suppose to go to and avoid all that.

Upside: Both packages get reviewed at the same time. Any issues are found at the same time and dealt with at the same time.

Downside: You lose potential processing time waiting for one track to catch up to the other.

How that balances for you just depends on your priorities.

Great! Thank you very much for your precised answer. I really appreciated. Do you have any personal recommendation for my case?

AOS package is ready to go but IV package still need some work.

Hi Everyone,

Got a question on I-864!

For the last two years my two sons ages 7, and 5 have been living with my parents while we were abroad. He did in fact included them as dependents on his income tax return I am seeing that in his tax transcripts for the last 2 years. Should I still include them in my I-864 as dependent children on my number of household section or not? I am prepared to include the transcript for those 2 years from my dad's behalf to show this fact.

Triple checked! LOL! Sorry to be such a pain but I think I have to wait for the Payment Portal to show the AOS status as "PAID" before I mail the package, right? Don't want to jump ahead and screw things up
