Just got off the phone with NVC. They said that there was a note about an error on the AOS form. Oddly, it wasn't what I expected. They seem to want the "My individual annual income" amount to match my most recent tax year instead of my 'current', which was documented via an employment letter.

The lady said I could immediately email in a correction, but should I wait until the checklist shows up to include it?

Update: Correction, the lady (though very nice) gave me the wrong impression. I called back and verified that it is in fact the Question 19 issue I detected the other day. Since I've already corrected my master PDF I'm sending it to them now. :)

That'll definitely do it good.gif Are you sending in tax transcripts for all three years, or...?

The only reason we added so many pay stubs was that he just got this new job in June 2010, and he hadn't filed his 2010 taxes to prove it, so pay stubs + employment letter was our proof yes.gif

Heh...well, I bugged and bugged for him to get transcripts. He figured he had them. Turns out he had the copies of his 1040s, plus W2 and any schedules for all three years (which were like, none). He has INSANELY straightforward taxes, so each pile was only like 4 pages. One year he had to amend his return. So, I included the amended portion as well - with a note explaining that the amendment did not affect his income but we wanted to be sure to fully disclose everything.

I'd suggest you get your husband to order tax transcripts for the three years in time for the interview. It really is preferred to tax returns.

For very good reasons. Far quicker than deal with a bunch of random forms and schedules and what not. :)

the irs asked her to do it online? hahahhahahahahhaha I'm sorry, really - this is a stalling tactic by the co-sponser.

dude, she can walk into any irs office, get it within 30 minutes.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Okay, corrected AOS package kicked out the door. Hopefully they review it today, though I would imagine it would be more likely tomorrow (at the earliest).

No word yet on the IV package beyond that they have it.

One moral of the story, call NVC frequently for the up-to-the-minute information.

I fully support this. If you hadn't been calling every day, you wouldn't have known yet you had a checklist, and thus wasted a day or two (or even more). And everyone knows how precious a day or two is in this process.

Nah it is not that, the office is far from her house and she is nurse working double. She is not the type of person to lie, she is christian and she is my aunt. She probably called and was requested to request it online and they told her they will mail it. You jump to conclusion too fast

I'd suggest you get your husband to order tax transcripts for the three years in time for the interview. It really is preferred to tax returns.

OK...just got back from a much needed de-stress power walk...before I let my husband have it AGAIN and tell him he needs to do something different, I'm going to clarify that I have the wrong stuff. See, I'm your typical "works in finance, stresses details and gets worked up when I don't get what I need YESTERDAY" kinda girl...lol...my husband's starting to second guess himself FAR too much and I'm trying to lessen that! It's not working... :bonk:

What I have are what he was given immediately after filing. They appear to be official copies of something, he gets his refunds immediately and THEN is given these printouts. Each is literally 2 pages for the 1040 plus one page for W2. That's it. One year, there was one page of amendment. This is not a transcript though, right? It just doesn't seem like "tons of random pages and forms" to me, but I may be wrong... :(

No, you only get transcripts if you request them. The tax transcripts look something like this: http://www.losthorizons.com/EveryWhichWayButLoose/Bruce%20G/Transcript1.jpg (that was the best I could find on Google images headbonk.gif). I'm not sure what your husband received. Most people, when they don't have the tax transcripts, send in copies of the 1040 and copies of their W2s (along with copies of other schedules, if applicable). If e-filing, then people just print a copy of that and then include a copy of their W2s.

OK. I like the looks of the transcript better - looks more official, it's 1 page as opposed to 2...thanks for sending that. Just trying to figure out if I want to deal with more of my husband beating himself up for "not being smart enough to get me the right stuff on the first try", as he'd put it. When I get talking finance/tax/anything like that, his eyes glaze over and he feels positively dumb (even though he's SO not). It makes me feel helpless when he does that where I can't hug him, and that's how this is going to go over...lol.

Thanks for your help though! That's awesome! It wouldn't cause a significant delay to just use the 1040's/W2/etc, would it? Weighing options...
