Huh... I sent in my IV package last night by email and here it is several hours later and no auto-reply... That seems a bit odd, no?

Just checked my old emails to see what happened for us. My husband was the one to send the IV package, but for the AOS electronic doc submission, it took about 10 minutes to get an auto-reply ("Thank you for your recent inquiry to the National Visa Center (NVC). This e-mail is an auto response. Please do not respond.") and about 26 hours to get a "real" reply ("We received electronic documentation for this case. Please allow up to 20 business days from the day the email was sent for the scanned attachments to be uploaded to the electronic case file and reviewed.")

Not having gotten the auto-reply after several hours is probably something you should check on.

Somewhat ironically, I finally got the "we received something" auto response for the IV bit while I was on the way to work. I also got the "real" reply as you called it for the AOS paperwork. Hopefully, they don't notice my error on it and I don't end up with a checklist...

I suspect their email system is just flooded and taking a while to catch up. That alone doesn't necessarily say good things for processing speed, no?

According to what I have read, the following message on the NVC Payment Portal is suppossed to mean they are Invoicing something right?

"This case is in the process of termination. Fee payments and online forms can no longer be accepted. If you believe you have received this message in error, or to resume processing of the case, please contact the NVC immediately."

Yep, that's what the FAQ says. :)

Okay, I looked in the list of AVR responses and didn't find this one:

"A packet of information and documents was generated on DATE. And will be sent within the next few weeks. Please, follow these instructions carefully and return the information to the address provided."

That sounds like they kicked out a checklist. Nothing in email yet and the operator I spoke to was clueless about what it might mean. Anyone know what this particular message indicates?

Update: A bit of searching indicates this is DS-230 Generation. In that case, can anyone confirm?

Here's my take- IF at any moment, when you were gathering your AOS folder, you thought that your dad's employment letter was necessary (and that's why you asked him to to include it) I would suggest to wait for it and send it within the package.

I would say it really depends on when they physically received it and when they add it to their queue to be assigned. I would expect that you'll get a # within this week. keep calling every day ( AM and PM).

That's the thing. At first before I read the FAQ on here, I thought it was a requirement. Then I realized it wasn't and the more thought I think about it it, the more I don't now if it's completely necessary or helpful. My visa is not gonna be issues based on how long or how much my dad has been at his jobs. All they care about is that we are above the poverty line, which we are. I will keep pondering I guess.

Somewhat ironically, I finally got the "we received something" auto response for the IV bit while I was on the way to work. I also got the "real" reply as you called it for the AOS paperwork. Hopefully, they don't notice my error on it and I don't end up with a checklist...

Hey Guys!

Hope everybody is doing fine!

Does the 2 photos need to be stapled on top left corner of the rectangular box?

I know it's a silly question but thought I'd ask!

I would suggest putting the two pictures in a small ziploc bag, and stapling the bag (not the pictures) to a sheet of white paper. Then putting this paper behind the DS-230 or something.

That's really good to know. Are copies of the tax return + W2 acceptable?

I just checked and DOS still hasn't updated the DS-230 that expired 2/29/2012 :bonk:. Which is good for me since I mailed my package after that but WOW.

They have to be copies as you send the originals to IRS.

CORRECTION GUYS....FALSE ALARM.....

I should've known better. Actually my AOS has been completed and the AVR system was referring to the DS-230 missing from the case (I didn't send it yet) to be completed. ONE MORE reason you should not trust the AVR!!!!!!!! :bonk:

Before you wrote this, I was going to say, it is most likely a false checklist asking for the other package. This happens frequently with the AVR and probably gives many people a heart attack thinking they missed something.

Here's a random thought - whilst still awaiting NVC # (grrr, lol)...

When the AOS and I864 bill is generated and sent for payment - does it matter if I pay it, or can my other half? Just wondering if it is like USCIS stage where is has to be paid by the petitioner.

Like others have said, as long as the money comes from a US banking account, NVC doesn't really care if it's the petitioner or beneficiary that pays.

I got the EXACT same message when I was at NVC a year ago. Like you found out, it's generation of the DS-230 package, which I got the day BEFORE this message was generated. Like I always say, the AVR is slow to update headbonk.gif

Hi.,

Here's my case. I'd like to know the next steps to bring my wife and step-daughter (13 yr old) to the US.

1) Both i-130 approved

2) Both have NVC numbers

3) I enrolled my wife to electronic processing, and I paid AOS bill and IV bill online for my wife, and it showed paid status.

My question is what to do with my step-daughter. I never received any AOS bill, I email to NVCinquiry, but haven't heard back for a week. Should I email NVC my step-daughter's DS-3032? Or should my wife send in DS-3032 for her daughter? I want them to go to interview together.

Please help. Thanks

Jiang

you should 'join up' these two cases at NVC. Once ya do that, it's solely ONE AOS fee bill for both casefiles.

How to do? Call into NVC, use a Telephone, get a Human, and inquire.

also - you need to OPT IN for the step-daughter, for EP, as well. is same process as the wife.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
