1. I filled out the DS-230 in "normal". I only capitalized the first letter of necessary items.

2. It'd be better to just write out the same information. It'll take you just a few extra seconds :P

3. Definitely don't leave it blank. Either of your suggested options work: 'see continuation sheet', 'see attached', 'see additional sheet', etc.

That last line looks like it could save your wife a trip to the UAE! I would include your letter as both a paragraph in the cover letter, as well as including it by itself behind the Canadian PCC.

Thank you! That is what I was looking for. Now do I need to include a similar one for Pakistan also?

She lived in the UAE until the age of 21. But UAE only gives out Police certificates in person. I know it says in the reciprocity list that it should not be needed. My question however is the following: Do I need to send an explanation why the police certificate is not included? Or should I submit the package without that? What are the risks of a checklist due to a lacking Police certificate which according to their procedures is not required?

Definitely include an explanation, as well as a print-out of what is listed in the reciprocity table that you mentioned earlier.

Be warned though, NVC might still want that PCC from UAE, despite what it says on their site.

I received the DS-3032 acceptance e-mail yesterday morning (the day before yesterday US time. now I´m wondering how long it normally takes until the agent (I chose my husband) receives the email with the payment information for the DS-230!? I saw many ppl on here got it the next day... Lol, I know the NVC is fast compared to USCIS, but I´m getting impatient :D

Grats on the DS-3032 acceptance!

And the IV usually gets invoiced within a few days from DS-3032 acceptance.

Thank you! That is what I was looking for. Now do I need to include a similar one for Pakistan also?

No, Pakistan won't be needed if she has not lived there since a baby as PCCs are only required after the age of 16.

I have no idea how I would go about procuring that. Is that really a possibility? Are they really full of people without common sense? :bonk: (my first time using that emoticon. I have a feeling I will be using it more often)

Yes, I've seen NVC issue checklists for the beneficiary to get PCCs when it's not really needed. Hopefully though, that won't be the case for you. And common sense doesn't exist at NVC :P

And yeah headbonk.gif will be a popular emoticon you will use.

can anyone in this thread help me:

1. do we have to fill out DS 230 in CAPS?? i filled out in "normal" tho. just curious. we filled it out normally, there were no instructions for DS 230, so unless stated, which it wasn't, 'normal' is fine :-)

2. would it be okay if we write "SAME AS ITEM #10" for #11?? or it is better to write this SAME THING all over again? i woulnd't do that, assume that the reviewers are chimps and don't comprehend same as, rewrite everything, so if it says address in the US and then the same question again, i would rewrite the same exact answer

3. if we use CONTINUATION SHEET, what do we have to write on the box? "see continuation sheet', "see attached" or LEAVE IT BLANK? if three lines are given, fill out the first two, and in the third, all across, write, see attachment

thanks :)

well my husband's addresses for work and school in spain are rediculously long, so he just put see attachment and wrote the entire address on the attachment, so i would suggest doing that so its all together and there is NO CONFUSION. remember, chimps reading this!

so, no halves, write in entirety on the attachment, plus if you write out 'see attachment' you will barely have room to write anything else in that tiny area

I posted my review of the interview, if anyone's interested. Of course, it's too long ! :D

Just a few facts which might be useful for everyone here:

- I was asked for 2011 tax return, new employment letter, and latest pay stub of my husband. Makes me wonder what's the point in NVC document intake, considering I also had to give new birth, marriage, and police certificates (specific to Paris)...

- they didn't want the extra passport sized pictures I brought. In fact, they gave me one of the NVC ones back.

- they also gave me back all the evidence of bona fide relationship we sent with the I130. I came out with more documents in my bag! They only kept the photos, and it triggered a question (who's that here on this wedding picture?).

- they didn't ask for additional evidence, nor did they want to see more photos.

- make sure your spouse knows how much your income is. I didn't really know and of course it was one of the first questions :hehe:

- be prepared to answer questions which seem completely unrelated to the immigration process or your relationship ("how's your brother in law's girlfriend?" "??? Huh, fine I guess?".

It was easy overall, but I found the interview part really awkward, standing in front of the window, speaking loud to be heard through, so everybody else in the waiting room knows all about your life...

I'm glad it's over and I can't wait for POE now!! Well first I need to receive my passport with the visa!

Great review Laure! Although there were a few hiccups/strange happenings, seemed pretty smooth, and very fast!

Interesting that they gave you back your proof of relationship! I never got mine back, but it was all photocopies, so I don't care laughing.gif

And yes, I can relate how awkward it is yelling across like a 6-inch thick window.
