Finally!!

Just before I was gonna go to bed I decided to check my mail one last time today and in there was a mail from NVC  , it was sent to me, my husband and our lawyer. It was info on my case with all numbers and this and that plus how to pay etc. (Never got that email regarding my sons case though) So I logged into the payment thingy which just 10 min ago gave me a SIF but now it worked AND our attorney had already paid the money. Status showed in progress!

Gonna fall asleep with a smile on my face tonight!!

Grats on the progress! Glad your lawyer is on top of things good.gif

Ditto on how wonderful all of this great information is!!!

I have some questions as well, I am not to NVC yet just want everything to be ready the minute I am.

I live overseas with my husband, and my father back in the states is going to be my co-sponsor. Can we file separately from different countries?? Or how does that work? And I have read about some people paying fees at the consulate, is the IV fee one of those that can be paid at the interview?? If not, I'd have to wire money to my family in the states to pay from a US bank account.

Thanks in advanced for the help and you stupendous contributions to so much happiness provided through information!!

Since your father is in the US and you're overseas, you have two options on how to proceed for the AOS package: either you send everything necessary to your dad, adds his stuff, then mails it to NVC, or your dad sends his documents to you and then you send everything to NVC.

As for the fees, only K1 visa applicants pay at the consulate. For IR-1/CR-1 cases, you pay all fees at NVC. The only fee you might pay at the consulate is for courier service; you'd have to look into this yourself. Do you have a US bank account? It doesn't matter if you're overseas as long as you have a US bank account.

Got my AOS invoice a few moments ago. Yours should be any time now.

Grats!

Even more good news, I just had to read that email one more time before passing out and when I opened up my hotmail I found a new email, this time from my lawyer. She informed me that she had been in touch with the NVC and already got the reciept on my IV bill, the one she paid today!! And she is sending mine and my sons package today with express mail, NVC should have it 2mrw!!!:dance::dance:

I'm so excited I might not be able to fall asleep now

Grats again on the progress. Be careful with your lawyer sending packages before the bills appear as PAID in the payment portal though... She should wait.

So I've just paid my AOS bill. I am trying to locate the specific thread that recommended that I should wait for the AOS bill to show "PAID" before mailing the AOS packet OR was that for the IV bill. I cannot find it, so I am thinking I misunderstood/misread. The instructions (on the DOS website) that follow paying the AOS bill (i.e., the AOS Cover-sheet) says that next step after paying the AOS bill is to mail the AOS packet.

I am reeeallly itching to send the AOS packet today! Any reason I should wait for the bill to show "PAID" before mailing AOS packet?

If I missed the thread, I could not find this info on Post 1 & 2., please re-link.

Like another member said, if something goes wrong with the payment, for whatever reason, and it gets rejected while your package is on its way to NVC, once they receive it and see your bill has been rejected, it can delay the case. Just wait the extra day or so, and as soon as it appears as PAID, mail it off. While you're waiting, go over the package again and again. If possible, have someone else go over it. Get the envelope and have the package all sealed and ready to go. So once it does appear as PAID, you just have to bring it to UPS/FedEx/DHL and pay for shipping.

AOS shows paid for both cases. Now i'm off to the post office to send the AOS packages via USPS express mail.

Yay, grats! kicking.gif

I'm working from California this week and their cutoff for next day delivery is 3:30pm. I got to the post office at 4:45pm. Not a big deal since I won't be able to send the IV documents for a few more days.

At any rate it is a step in the process and I will gladly take it!

Now waiting for NVC to accept the Choice of Agent email so they can invoice the IV bill.

Just got the DS-3032 acceptance email! Yeehawww! IV bill isn't invoiced yet though...

Congrats!!! :D

*smiling like a crazy fool while in class* laughing.giflaughing.giflaughing.gif

I was reading in class as well and laughed out loud as well... hehe, i'll have to keep it down next time...

LOL. Most of us don't, I don't think :D

Awkward  I read everything... lol... i like to stay informed about everything... learn all the possibilities in the process...

You're not kidding! This place is much more positive and happy-thought filled :) However, sometimes we still get impatient and cranky with NVC because they don't want to take our money fast enough... It's still not as depressing as the NOA2 threads!

The NOA2 thread was depressing... LOL... was happy to get out of there... what annoyed me most was people that waited alot less than 5 months (made me so jealous!). This thread is awesome... I'm still waiting for a case number and IIN from NVC but at least there's movement with others... and its quite enjoyable :)

so I just called the NVC, mostly because I wanted to know what the process is like. Do they always make you wait so long before you can talk to someone? The person seemed much nicer and polite. They told me that they have not received it yet and to wait 15 business days for it. I will wait till friday and then call again.

Question, What is the AVR? I assume automated voice response or something. But how do you reach that? I assume you need case number to use that?

MCMLXXII!!! you're here!!! I hope I wasn't one of the ones you were referring to about being annoying... haha, actually, i only checked that forum often after my approval to check up on u...

NVC keeps telling me the same... to wait 15 days from NOA2, but i still call anyway...

I just called NVC at ~6:30 pm EST, after repeatedly getting a busy signal (weird), I waited a solid 11 minutes then 'Cindy' told me that the case is in the building but hasn't been scanned into the system...grrrr (Cindy was really nice though)

Hey everyone,

I see a couple of you are waiting for an interview date in London. I am in the same boat, just hoping it comes quickly. I think this wait is worse than the 6 1/2 months for the petition approval. Would be nice to get a date early enough in may that I can make it over for our first anniversary.

Best of luck to you, Peter! It looks like your case complete was just one day after mine, so I'll be sure to post it when I have an interview scheduled (presumably you'd get yours around the same time, or soon after). I'm not sure I agree that this wait is worse than the I-130 wait though... I was going absolutely insane for the last three weeks of that. Now I feel like he'll definitely be here within 2-3 months, which seems like a serious improvement!

Like you, I'm hoping that the process is over in time for our anniversary (June 3rd). That feels urgent to me, but really having him here at all is the most important thing, and I'm trying to remind myself of that. If he's not here by the anniversary, then we'll pick an arbitrary day a few weeks later and celebrate. Presumably it'll be the only anniversary for which being apart will be involuntary.

Question: I see you've already scheduled your medical. When you called, was their availability pretty reasonable, or is it best to make an appointment several weeks ahead of time?

Ok.. finally..

AOS package, complete, correct, readable, merged and compressed. It was 57 pages and 14.8mb (8.9mb after compression) Hubby double checked, son triple checked and copy of entire package emailed to my husband in case I do something stupid again!

Same for IV package but it came in at 7 pages and 1.8mb with out compression :)

Used the online passport photo tool that was suggested by Saylin. Hubby didn't want me to print more of that picture because it looks like a serial killer mug shot. When he gets another picture taken he wants to be all prettied up for it, I'll use those and print a sheet of photos out.

Ok NVC, I'm ready to hit the send button, bring it on! Lets get this bus movin'! desismileys_6324.gif

NVC is quick, so there might not be a reason to expedite through it :Plaughing.gif

And yes, call tomorrow yes.gif

Ok..

Glad you sent the AOS package to your husband. Don't want it deleted by accident again headbonk.gif

And yeah, my IV package didn't need compression either. Think it was around 2 MB, like yours.

And yay for using that photo site! I am super happy I found it mentioned here on VJ. Saved me $60! And I was able to take my own photos so I could keep taking them until I was satisfied with the result. Unlike those professional places where you only get one chance to look good laughing.gif

Nice bus emoticon by the way ;) Am I the driver? :P

Of course you're the driver!!

We have an expedite in our hat because of USCIS error, but I haven't bothered to use it. There's no point. NVC is quick and we don't want to POE until mid-June at the earliest. After taking 8 1/2 months in USCIS we decided we'd just wait it out. (want that IR-1!)

I'm all for saving money! Hubby just wasn't happy with the pic! (he has a sore spot about his hair line, I don't have the heart to tell him, "Yes, dear it's really that high )

Hehe, yay, I'm Bus Driver Saylin now :D

Yeah, since you're so close to the 2 year anniversary, it'd be worth the extra month waiting just so you can get an IR-1 stamp. This will save you almost $600 (and a lot of headache). Just make sure the officer at POE gives you the correct stamp and make sure all the paperwork is fixed so you get a 10 year green card instead of the conditional 2 year one. I've seen a few people here that should have gotten an IR-1 stamp/10 year green card, but didn't.
