It's a southern thang (and since become more popular in New England)... we southerners will deep fry anything and do about anything to make it tasty. Waffles and chicken is the best thing since biscuits and gravy.

I have no complaints about NVC, although I'm sure they probably hate me. :rofl:

I was lucky to get through uscis fast so no complaints for them either. I have heard of how incompetent they can be though so do I consider myself lucky. :star:

I think I should sleep more, it's when I sleep I get good news :yes:

My lawyer, who apparently works saturdays :wow: ,emailed me saying that my sons visa fee bill had showed up on friday already and she had paid it then! Hopefully mine will be accessible on monday so she can send our last documents in soon!! Now I really really really want it to be monday already :dance:

Hey guys, quick question - probably more for Saylin, but maybe someone else knows :-)

Since it is reported that NVC actually schedule interviews all month long, do they let you know as soon as its scheduled, or do you have to wait till the 2nd week of the month to find out the date?

Nope, you can find out immediately. Mine was scheduled on a Friday during the fourth week and I found out that day.

I have no idea where this "only schedule in the 2nd week" comes from. It's probably just a silly line, like with all their silly time frames.

I'm gonna go totally :ot: right now...

Over here in sweden we celebrate the national waffle day today, it is what it sounds like a day when you eat waffles and I do think 90% of the population does it today. We also have the national cinnamon bun day later on... Is this anything that you do in other countries, my american hubby thinks we are well strange.. :blink:

As far as I know, I don't think there's any National [insert food] Day here in the US or Canada. Or if there is, it's not as popular as Sweden with 90% of its population joining in.

If you like waffles, you're probably going to like IHOP over here...

Because it's Sunday and I'm bored I was playing around with the DHL tracking page and I noticed that a package went out to Asuncion, Paraguay on Friday. I haven't been calling for my interview date but with the extremely low volume of Paraguayan immigrants and I have a hard time believing that that's not my package. Maybe we'll have an interview date when I call tomorrow morning!

I posted this on another thread, but since this thread gets so much traffic i'll post here as well:

I'm getting ready to submit the IV packet for my wife and step-daughter. I haven't paid the IV fee yet, but we should be getting that invoiced sometime in the coming week. Here's what I have ready to send.

For my wife:

Completed DS-230 Part I and II, part I signed.

2 2"x2" passport photos with full name, DOB, and NVC case # written on back

Photocopy of biometric page of passport

Original birth certificate plus one photocopy

Original marriage certificate plus one photocopy

Original divorce certificate plus one photocopy

Original police certificate plus one photocopy

For my step-daughter (5-years old):

Completed DS-230 Part I and II, part I signed by my wife.

2 2"x2" passport photos with full name, DOB, and NVC case # written on back

Photocopy of biometric page of passport

Original birth certificate plus one photocopy

Now, here are my questions.

Do I need to include a copy of the marriage and/or divorce certificate in my step-daughter's application that I am including with my wife's application?

Do I need to include a copy of my divorce certificate in either application?

Am I missing anything else?

Yes our packages are ready to go! Our lawyer has all our papers and she is ready to overnight them as soon as we get a green light!

And yes she is a very very good lawyer, and I've realised we got lucky after doing some reading here on vj some lawyers should just not be allowed to practice law!

I'm not familiar with IR-2 visas very well, but I'd suggest including the marriage and divorce certificates in the step-daughter's package, just in case if it is needed.

And I don't think you're missing anything except the bar-coded cover sheets.

And yes, you're extremely lucky to have found a competent and FAST lawyer. Most take days to send out packages, or they lie about it, or don't include everything, etc. Definitely show your gratitude to your lawyer ;)

We were one of the cases they were incompetent with.. as in they misplacedlost our file and it appeared again after my Congressman contacted them the second time.

It took 8 1/2 months for our approval.

As far as I know, I don't think there's any National [insert food] Day here in the US or Canada. Or if there is, it's not as popular as Sweden with 90% of its population joining in.

USCIS (192 days, August 24 2011 to March 2 2012. No RFE's).
NVC (30 days, March 12 to April 11. Case expedited due to NVC errors).

Montreal US Consulate, awaiting interview date (14 days, April 12 to April 26).

05/09/2012 - medical in Toronto - passed!
05/22/2012 - interview - passed!
05/25/2012 - visa in hand!!! biggrin.png
06/09/2012 - POE @ YWG (Winnipeg Int'l Airport)

Removal of Conditions submitted March 24, 2014, received March 26, 2014

"RFE" for page 3 of application received, date March 27, 2014. Package re-submitted with all papers re-attached.

05/07/2014 - Biometrics in Charlotte, NC

11/05/2014 - APPROVED! Citizenship in 5 months!

11/10/2014 - NOA2 in hand.

11/20/2014 - 10 yr GC in hand! :D
