Okay everyone, I have the awesomest of news, if there's such a word. My husband just spoke to an operator at NVC and got the confirmation that our case is officially closed. He was so shocked, that he asked the operator if he knew what he was talking about. In reply, the operator said yes, the case if officially closed, we did try sending it to the Mumbai consulate but it bounced back as there isn't a date available for an April interview. He's asked us to call again in two weeks' time or so for a May interview date. I so hope we get an early May slot!!! kicking.gifkicking.gifkicking.gifkicking.gifkicking.gifkicking.gifkicking.gifkicking.gif I can't dance enough!

I'd suggest calling back and confirming they have the right email addresses for the petitioner, beneficiary, and lawyer.

I just got off the phone again with NVC to double check the email addresses and they had them all already... I also wanted to double check that I had written down the correct IIN numbers so I asked the operator about them and she was at first not willing to give them to me. She told me I couldn't do anything with them anyway and that it might take up to 8 weeks before I'll be able to pay my fees... Now I didn't give up and she gave me the numbers But is this really the case? Why are people asking for for IIN if they can't use them? I'm well confused right now :help::help:

You can probably just re-scan in a lower dpi, no need to do it in black & white. You're only off by like 4 MB, the lower settings should be sufficient.

My printer is automatically set to scan at 600DPI.. holy moly! I set it to 150 and got my file size down to 4.2mb

Yeah, like I said before, some operators are dumb and refuse to give out the IIN.

It's useful to get the IIN now as the AOS bill might get invoiced before you receive the initial information package from NVC. And it definitely doesn't take 8 weeks for them to invoice the AOS bill. You're in and out of NVC within 8 weeks... headbonk.gif

Woot...after a minor hiccup with the birthdate, I tried to get it changed last night. Unfortunately, my optin email was rejected before they got to that email. I was panicking, until JR at NVC was super helpful. He told me to resend the optin emails using the correct birthdate AS WELL AS the one they incorrectly had on file, and one of them would stick. So...I did that. Sigh. JR better be right. Lol.

And...DS-261 sent. Hopefully they take it! :D

You will need IIN number and Case number to access the payment web portal to pay the AOS and IV fees. However, you will eventually receive an email with these information. Being ahead of the game would save couple days within the process as you can pay the AOS fee before receiving the email with the INN and Case#. I, personally received the email they are talking about 48 hours after my AOS showed PAID in the web portal.

Yeah, like I said before, some operators are dumb and refuse to give out the IIN.

I think the reason that some operators refuse to give the IIN is because they can tell that the case is not ready to be invoiced. The operator I spoke with yesterday told me that the case has to go through a QA process before the invoice will be generated. My guess is that someone has to verify the information that was input into the NVC systems when the case number and IIN were generated before they accept payment.

Having said that the operators should give out the IIN number when they have it, otherwise they are just asking for us to keep calling back. We know that the invoice won't appear right away, but at least we can check as often as we want to see when it does finally get invoiced.

I wonder if the NVC operators know when they are talking to someone from the VJ forums because we know what things to ask for where most outside of immigration attorneys would have no clue.

They're so finicky headbonk.gif Putting both the correct and incorrect ones should work with them.

And yay for the DS-261 being sent! Should be accepted soon (no way to know though except for the IV being invoiced).

True, some VJ'ers WERE telling their attorneys what to do!!! It is a damn # and I don't see why they refuse to provide. Saylin calls their mail "snail mail" but appears it ain't only the mail that's snailing.
