Folks Thanks for all your replies ... But None of You are Reading what I'm trying to say ... I'm not talking about the OMB date I know THAT IS NOT AN EXPIRATION DATE ... I already knew from the beginning ... PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AS FOLLOWS: "PLEASE Look at the Bottom LEFT of Page 1 of the DS-230 Form and there is ANOTHER NUMBER That reads "03-2012" (That's your MOST CURRENT EDITION) of the DS-230. Right next to that CENTER Bottom SAYS: "ALL PREVIOUS EDITIONS OBSOLETE"

The previous one as of Yesterday was 02-2010 ... that one is OBSOLETE ... Dis anybody get what I was trying to say?

OMB approval lasts for a maximum of only three years, so large quantities of stock should not be ordered if the stock will not be used by the public before the expiration date.

If the only change to the form is the new expiration date and large quantities of stock are still available, the old expiration date may be crossed out and the new expiration date added by pen.

Normally, when agencies have pending paperwork requests that do not get reviewed by the expiration date, approval for one year is inferred under the Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA).

Which means: Nothing has changed. You can still use the old one. NVC and Dept. of State will continue to accept both versions.

If she didn't file 2011 how did she get a transcript, do you mean 2008, 2009 and 2010 transcripts?

if she hasn't filed 2011 you have nothing to send them until she does file.

Yes, east side.... I was thinking from Germany side from some reason. Yep 30 min drive from Basel (in fact they share the same airport) and 20 min from Mulheim, Germany. I'd love to visit Basel again though, beautiful.

when I traveled Strasbourg Paris round trip, it was 160 eurors..

From where I live the TGV ticket is more like 180€ per person round trip

hi guys URGENNT who does the DS-230 cover letter,petioner? or beneficiary?

I didn't sign the cover letter for the IV package, and I don't think my husband included any in the AOS package. I don't think it's very important at all. In fact I doubt they read it most of the times!

Oh no my friend! I hope yours goes through. My only concern is the phrase at the bottom of page 1 that reads "Previous Editions Obsolete" which will make 02-2010 NOT GOOD anymore

It's not raw shrimp, you don't have to throw it away the day after the expiry date... They realize that people will be using the "old" form for a while. In fact I know some consulates send very old versions of the forms in packet 3 to the K1 filers (it's the case in France).

Hi all,

Mailed my AOS package yesterday via USPS Express Mail guaranteed delivery by 12:00 noon but I don't see the USPS track and confirm updated yet. Called NVC to find out if they received it but they said that it takes atleast 20 days for us to make a decision. Didn't tell me if they received it yet or not?

Good analogy and I agree. Unless they have changed something on the DS-230 form other than those dates I can't see why they would reject those forms. Having said that I can understand the concern that some might have. If you are like me and you already have a signed copy from your foreign spouse ready to go and can't get another signed copy before you are ready to mail it in you could always just reprint page one with the new date and keep the other pages which either don't have a date or still have the old date.

No. The call center employes are contracted by the DoS, they don't actually work for NVC or the DoS and they go by what they think is the right answer.

You are correct, the filing deadline is usually the 15th of April unless that day falls on a weekend or holiday, as it is this year, so the deadline is the 17th.

NVC says that will take 20 days and it actually takes 10 or less.

USCIS says that will take 5 months and it actually takes 6 or more. (at least for me and many other June/July/Aug 2011 filers)

On an unrelated topic, but still to due with my wife, I submitted a W-7 along with my 2011 tax return 3 weeks ago. I was told by the IRS accepting agent that the W-7 application for an ITIN would take 8-10 weeks this time of year and that once that is done the return will take 6-8 weeks because it is a paper return. I received her ITIN in the mail yesterday and the IRS website says I should get my refund before the end of April.

I would rather have them overestimate the time and deliver early than take longer than they said it would. Those extra 2 months of waiting for USCIS were terrible for me and my wife.

I was just making a random comment because it seems that's all they ever say to anyone, regardless what stage they are in along the process. USCIS...ugh, yeah it was about that long here too.

Good to know! My husband did the same thing but we had no real idea when to expect the return. This is good info!

The extra 2 months of waiting...well, I won't lie and say they were fabulous. But they weren't unbearable...we got through, right?
